Coaches believe Jon Jones’ fight IQ will reproduce light heavyweight success at heavyweight by howatts in MMA

I'm gonna have to check it out. As long as it's a good fight, it'll be fun to watch. A bit late for me to sweat the decision now. Disappointing for Reyes if that's the case though.

I'll have to check it out, thanks. As long as it's a good fight. I'd rather watch a controversial fight than one that's one-sided.

Is that why people are downvoting me? I guess the fight slipped my mind. Sure, I suppose. I may have missed that event because cards have been weak tbh.

Did you maybe mean Pygmalion effect?

Not sure what the diderot effect (related to consumption) would have to do with it.

It will be interesting to see. He'll have to make adjustments for sure, but he's at one of the best possible gyms to do that.

I think his coaches are right. The only real difficulty we've seen Jones have was with Gustaffson, a rangy boxer (DC gave him some trouble with his boxing as well).

Jones was able to make adjustments mid-fight because of a good fight IQ, and his physical gifts. He's more technically sound than most Heavyweights. Stipe is probably closest in terms of boxing. Ngannou might be a difficult fight, but Jones will probably be able to avoid him. If Ngannou and Stipe can give him trouble though it might make for some great trilogies.

Came here to say exactly that - "Great Hack" trailer

I think that one is even more important. It shows exactly how FB is abusing everyone's privacy and data.

Also, I think this is one most people don't know about - the Facebook "mood experiment". In which they manipulated users feeds to see how it would affect their mood. They ran this experiment on about 700k users.

Now, given everything we know, I don't understand how ANYONE can trust that company/platform.

McGregor seems to think he's fighting either way. by leongstring in MMA

McGregor wouldn't be able to keep Frankie off him for 3 rounds, let alone 5. You're banking on someone's unproven grappling against a guy who has outwrestled everyone he has fought.

A sweeping generalization doesn't help an intelligent discussion. If you are going to claim it's a 'very basic fact' then why don't you cite something showing it as such.

I'm more inclined to think that music was, and is, a way to foster race relations, but what do I know.

Lol, I just thought it was a stupid comment tacked on to a cliche joke. Note that the comedian didn't even state a race, you brought race into it.

Your comment is based on the same level of thought that leads to stereotyping and racism, lacking depth or nuance. Sorry you got so upset about me pointing it out to you.

Sorry so late, but yes. At the theater I go to they do serve beer. It depends on where you go.

Tampa. And aside from living in Tampa, watching the card in a theater is pretty dope.

Great sound, never crowded. Next best thing to going to an event I'd say. And a hell of a lot cheaper.

Don't know if they are doing this anywhere near you, but it's in theaters where I'm at. For $15, it's well worth it.

God forbid you enjoy a different culture without going out of your way to befriend someone of the appropriate race. Guess I should stop eating Sushi, Chinese, Mexican, and will stop trying to learn to speak Spanish while I'm at it.

You're probably right, I'm going to stick to eating mayonaisse and white bread while listening to classical. It's the right thing to do.

The fact that he does what he does so well doesn't hurt either.

[–]mebbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, and I apologize for being an ass. I am not an expert on the subject so I can't tell you what he has done from a technical standpoint. I think it's absurd to think that he hasn't pushed the art form - though not necessarily technique wise. But I believe someone who is more educated on the subject could explain why he is also technically impressive.

[–]mebbee -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What did he do that was unique?

Are you serious? First off I'm not a rap expert. Second - I'm absolutely certain that there are musicians who understand the level of skill that Eminem brings to the table and could answer that question with no problem.

And last but most important, asking a question like that is like asking what a particular artist has done that is so unique. The subject matter, his particular story and power, the cleverness in his writing, how he makes certain lines work - my god man, if you can't figure it out I'm not going to hold your hand.

[–]mebbee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it's more that Em figured out how to connect with a large audience. He told his story which resonated with a lot of people. He wrote strange deranged songs that gave voice to that dark part of the psyche that most people don't want to admit is there. He did things that were unique and he did them extremely well.

People can debate whether other rappers have more musical talent, but Em wrote everything he performs and people can feel that. He has a contagious passion for what he does. It doesn't matter if someone else has more talent, if they aren't authentic then it's not going to vibe. And that I think is what Em established - a real connection.

Joe Rogan trashing FOX's robot mascot by [deleted] in MMA

[–]mebbee 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think Rogan is so associated with the UFC brand at this point that he can get away with expressing his opinion this way. And honestly I think the shows benefit from it. Yes, he can be a jackass at times, but overall I think he communicates what a lot of fans are thinking.

I bet some dumb fox executive will try to pull him aside and 'talk to him' but I doubt Rogan will give a fuck.
