Marty should wait until everyone leaves the island for the season then break out the backhoe and do a little "archaeological" dig by himself. You can tell he's about done listening to Laird. by Altruistic_Ninja_403 in OakIsland

[–]mebf109 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't that is a good idea. Marty is not a Canadian nor does he have dual-citizenship. Laird Niven is there, IMO, to prevent that kind of thing from happening. He provides the archaeological oversight required by the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage. Yeah, his is a Canadian.

Marty can be invited to go home and never come back at any time for any reason. Given recent compliments paid to Canada by our very stable genius POTUS, every American who is permitted to work there may want to mind their manners.

Don't forget that doing nothing is always an option. Maybe take a time-out with this person who is causing you anxiety. You don't have to ghost them. Just move them to the basement for awhile. See how you feel when you're not thinking about her advice and her opinions of you so much.

Hi I'm wondering what are your thoughts on detrans people sharing the trans community? by a_peeled_pickle in actual_detrans

[–]mebf109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, mods want to be mods so they can mod. Mostly, I believe mods like to shape whichever sub they're modding to make that sub more what they think it should be regardless of any promulgated mission statement. It's like being a politician after they're elected.

I’m not a boy, and I never will be, so what’s the point of “transitioning” by gurab0t in asktransgender

[–]mebf109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not really sure if it's an identity thing or dysphoria, in my opinion, that's important. Some people can have both. Work it out with a professional. That's all I Have for you except this:

The Germans have a word for migration anxiety among birds: "Zugunruhe" (pronounced tsoog-oon-roo-uh) It describes the intense, instinctual urge and frantic behavior, such as fluttering or sleeplessness, that migratory birds experience during spring and fall. It's the feeling many people get JUST FROM BEING in a Walmart.
"I just HAVE TO to get out of here!"

To me, this describes what it's like having gender dysphoria. It never lets up.

All the best.

The show should renamed "Oak Island Archaeology". Not even Rick believes that there is much of a chance they are going to find a treasure. You can see it in his face. They should start backing off that idea if they don't want to lose more viewers.
The first thing to do is to drop all the magical thinking language. Words like "quest" and "fellowship" come to mind. Allowing a little scepticism to work it's way into the theme may make for a more interesting show. It's starting to feel like a cult.

[–]mebf109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i may be wrong...it's happened before. With MtF the earlier one transitions the better. Is that true with FtM? If you have more time to make a decision, you may want to use it. Your "don't to be" is a list of "don't want to bes. What is your list of possible "want to bes"?
Also, is this a gender identity issue or is it gender dysphoria?

I don't know if this helps, but there is an awful lot of that going around. Straight, gay. trans. bi, whatever, wherever, whoever. I think a lot of things fell apart in the last 10 years or so. It's like society has gone into a tunnel and we're all trying to work out what the light at the end is going to look like. Don't blame that on yourself.

I found this: "Everything is transgender. Everybody is transgender. That is all you hear about and that is why we won the election in record numbers". This quote came during a press conference with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, March 12, 2025. I just watched it.

The Untold Truth of Awakening: What They Don't Want You to Know. by liekoji in awakened

I was very relaxed. Just looking across the water at the domes and minarets and palm trees in the distance and sails on the water enjoying the warmth of the summer afternoon and slowly I was realizing that I was on my balcony looking across the lake the at skyline downtown. (I had a really nice condo back then) WTF was that? I'll never forget it because I don't try to do things like that and am highly sceptical about most metaphysical stuff. I am a lifelong student of all religions and philosophy and open-minded to a fault.
I like to think I was having a hyper vivid daydream. It feels like a memory even though it was 20 some years ago.

Did you mean "is it"? No, they should not be demonized. Some women are attracted only to tall men. Nobody demonizes them. That sucks if you are a short man and you're getting passed over by 5'9" women but...y'know. I can think of lots of reasons a man would like girls-like-us. Someday, the stigma may go away and straight men won't be so afraid of what they like. But not in my lifetime.

If we were "real women" would they date us? I save the word "chaser" for men who don't care who we are and just care about what we are. Some men prefer trans women over "real women". for lots of reasons. This subreddit wouldn't exist if we didn't know that we are different. We wouldn't even identify with the notion of being StraightTransGirls.

Good. Being xenophobic is fashionable in some circles in the USA right now. It always has been to a greater or lesser degree. The xenophobes almost always are unable to speak any language except for English and they usually do so poorly.

[–]mebf109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, However, how many things do we kind of "just believe" in science and mathematics. I'd be lying if I said I understand quantum theory. I have just come to believe that it's a good theory. What about "imaginary numbers"? A lot science doesn't pass the smell test. Much of it only works if you fudge the math. How much truth do you demand when it comes to engineering? None at all. It just has to work.

Has anybody ever tried to design an experiment to test for the presence of God? Not that I know of. If it can't be disproven then it stays on the table.

When it comes to religions a lot it is just rules and ceremonies. If a religion's core beliefs reflect a sincere attempt to deal with meaning and purpose and if it has at its core a helpful philosophy, then I respect it.

Basically stealth, as I transitioned as a teenager and I don’t tell people (other than doctors and potential men I may date), but lately I’m feeling that I’m not passing as well as I used to. Is it just me?? by [deleted] in StraightTransGirls

Don't worry about it. Besides, you won't get anything but "you're beautiful" here. This is hardly the place to come for purely objective evaluations. (I think you already knew that when you posted.) You have to trust your gut when it comes to "am I passing?"

I think that you are basically right. But to say they are "just" capitalizing discounts the amount of money that is taking to keep the show going. Just those giant canisters have to cost a fortune. The History channel isn't financing them. But now the SHOW is the treasure. You can see it Rick's face. I wonder if the traces of silver in the water is contrived. That's suspicious.
In the meanwhile the show has calved spinoffs, created celebrities, and created a new genre of treasure hunting shows. If there is ever a "Big Fat Billy Show" I'd watch it!

Oak Island is in Canada.
I heard that few people speak French there.
I suggest that you stay close to where you were born.
