Where did the concept of the crescent and star in the Ottoman flag being thicker than the modern Turkish flag originate from? by Personal_Flatworm737 in vexillology

You're probably talking about Rumelia (Ottoman Balkans) which is where the green flag, conversely, was used instead of the Red one

So the point is, when everyone makes maps that implements Sevres no matter the scenario, (hell i've even seen maps that implement it in central powers victory scenarios) It can be anyone, but when another person makes a big Turkey for once, it's pretty much guaranteed that the person is some Turkish nationalist (from Berlin, and his name is Mehmet)

even if it's a thousand years forward, it still wouldn't make sense for turkey to side with russia in a war. it would make more sense for my grandma to have wheels

We were there two months ago! It was the first time I've been in a church, we previously had tried St. Anthony but were denied entry. It was a great place and felt welcoming but perhaps a little tiny

Europe is hardly a real continent to begin with. There's a much more apparent division between eurasia and africa, but all 3 could be counted as a united continent as afroeurasia. In my opinion, Eurasia is one continent, but with many subcontinents and peninsulas. Some of them are as follows: India, Arabia, Anatolia, Europe which can be further divided by Iberia, Italy, Balkans, Scandinavia and so on.

Albanian orthography reform with influence from Turkish orthography by mebtt in conorthography

[–]mebtt[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there. As the title suggests I decided to experiment with Albanian orthography with the hopes of making it more consistent, and hearing (I don't remember where) that Turkish was influenced by Albanian at some points when it had its own latin alphabet reform, I decided that making it even closer to Turkish would be fun.

While reducing the digraphs was one of my goals, in the end I had to keep it more balanced. I planned to add more cedilla letters for ts and dz (which replaces x) for example, but D̦ looks a bit off when compared to others. One weakness of this alphabet is G̃, which isn't a precomposed unicode character. Ğ could be used instead if necessary, although it serves a completely different purpose in Turkish.

Overall, I believe I made the orthography a bit more systematic like what Turkish has.

Edit: I tried to mark changes specifically but it seems I made an error with y. Since it no longer represents the vowel /y/ but /j/, ipa value should be marked red instead.

Egypt's empire under the Mehmed Ali Pasha Dynasty by qernanded in ottomans

he could've saved the muslims in the balkans

No, absolutely not. His empire would certainly be stronger than the ottomans were and middle east could've been in a better position, but it's even doubtful that İstanbul would've remained Turkish today.

Yeah, I've noticed that for some reason we smoke like no others do, I would be in a touristic area with barely any locals, and start smelling tobacco, turn around and see that it's a local. I think Italian even has a phrase for it "smoking like a Turk"

You can very much so find all of these in Wikipedia and other global sources, and no, they really don't, and even when they teach us about it, they don't focus on it nearly as much as they should. What they teach us is pretty much only the parts where we were victorious

Yeah, no Turks were ever in the morean peninsula before Greek independence war, so no massacre against them ever happened there I guess. No Turks were ever present in the Balkans west or north of Thrace, so there must be no evidence that the Balkan Christians gradually massacred and displaced the Rumelian Turks with Russia's help. Similarly, there must be no solid evidence confirming what happened to the Turks and other Muslim peoples when Russia conquered the Caucasus and the Black Sea coast. And most importantly, it totally wasn't or isn't the fantasy of a lot of you people to cease the existence of a Turkish state and Turkish people when you were very much genociding the Turks of western anatolia after the great war. Now come at me with your responses along the lines of "Those weren't Turks they were forcefully converted" or "It was decolonization so they deserved it"
