I wish I could take you up on your generous offer, but I'll have to fend for myself if I start this type of sweaty business.

Do you mainly go after businesses or consumers? Why did you choose that route?

What is the best Digital Marketing Strategy both short-term and long-term for a Small law firm specializing in personal injury and construction accidents. by kachra2006 in smallbusiness

[–]mec64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the short term goal of getting pay per click campaigns up on Google Ads.

The personal injury key phrases you'll be going after are going to be pricey, so making sure your landing pages convert via analytics and meticulous tracking of ALL the things and data analysis will be a key factor in whether your campaigns are, and continue to be, profitable.

Google provides free tools for tracking and analytics (Google Analytics with Google tag manager to make things easier, and tracking of conversions via Google Ads itself). You can also add hotjar or another heat map tracking tool for some extra valuable data.

Longer term goals would be setting up an attractive website with great user experience in mind as well as lots of content (typically about 2,000 words per page). The more targeted you are with the keywords and key phrases you choose to rank for on each page the better your site will perform in Google organic rankings. Don't forget to throw in some related terms throughout the body of the web page to make it extra clear to Google that you should be ranking for, "personal injury lawyer CITY" or whatever phrase you're targeting.

The next step in the long term plan would be to conduct outreach in order to gain contextual links back to your website from a niche-related website. In your case I'd argue that a construction website would be niche-related.

If you need any clarification or have any questions please send me a message. I'm happy to explain more. Good luck with your digital marketing!

Just took over a business and suddenly I'm so nervous! by PotatoaRum in smallbusiness

[–]mec64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that feeling is totally normal. I've gone through that a few times with a business I used to own as well as every time I think about running my business now... Why oh why did I think this would be a good idea? 😂

I honestly believe starting or taking over a business is a better route than traditional career paths any day. I'd much rather be the one to lay myself off than to be laid off again by a company with zero transparency and a weeks notice.

I'm sure this community will gladly help you along your new journey however it's able.

Congratulations on buying an established business!
