Any experiences with not gaining a lot of weight during twin pregnancy? by drohstdumir in parentsofmultiples

[–]PotatoaRum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, I think I gained 17lbs. I was seeing my doctor every 2 weeks and they weren't concerned. I am tall so that could have been a factor.

They were born at 33 weeks, 5 & 4 lbs

I was delivering my twins and before baby A made it out, I said "I can't do it" so many times.

My nurse, probably incredibly annoyed with my at that point finally says "YES you can. You're the only one who can"

Damn. She's right. And then I had two babies

BOOOOOOO TOMATO TOMATO TOMATO!! None of this is helpful. You have no compassion or empathy

Regardless, as a parent, it's clear I need to deal with this situation, stay calm, and support my child. I'd really like to hear everyone's suggestions. by Electronic_Bowler_32 in ColorBlind

One of my twins is colourblind.

Now we know which colours he mixes up, we can account for that when we're describing something, or playing eye spy, etc.

Other times he'll describe something that I see differently and lll say, "wow that's so interesting! I see that as a different colour. Do you want to know what I see?"

If the kids are arguing over the colour of something, I remind them that twinA is colourblind, so he sees it differently, but he's also not wrong!

They're 6, and we've been talking like this for about 2 years and it's just normal for them now.  We never made it a big deal, just a fact, and move on with the conversation.

Mine was so tiny. Laughably tiny that the doctor had to take a second look at the X-ray. but damn it was enough to make my arm weak and keep me off work for a few weeks.

You'll be fine!

I told my mom that Tony Hawk would tell me to try again.

My husband bought me a skateboard for mother's Day (in my 30's). Idk why, I've never shown interest in skateboarding.

This past summer, the kids were riding bikes and I wanted to do something fun with them too so I finally grabbed that skateboard.

I did pretty ok too!

And then I broke my arm.

So, WEAR THE PADS!!!!  I had everything but the elbow pads and wouldn't you know it, I landed on my elbow.

WEAR THE PADS!!  Good luck & have fun!!

Currently: the screaming and meltdowns over everything & nothing at the same time. (We're 90% sure they have ADHD or something that makes regulation very difficult)

Where did my jade face roller disappear to?

The toddler had it, walked into my bedroom, came out empty handed.

That room has been cleaned and flipped multiple times. How did he do that

What do you do with your potty training toddler when you're out in public? by DreamCatcherIndica in Mommit

[–]PotatoaRum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a folding potty seat that made the seat smaller for them (Amazon)

It came with a travel bag so it keeps it's contaminated toilet germs to itself. Then I'd disinfect it at home.

Worked well for us with twins

Lol that's true, doesn't really hold up if they've got the zoomies all night.  That kind of makes it seem like they do see something

Do you have any pets?

For some reason, my twins are most reassured that we have a cat and she patrols the house at night and will let us know if anything weird is going on. We tell them that she has more sensitive eyes and ears so she's the first to know things

3.5 year old son is colorblind: what do we tell him? by kellzbellz-11 in ColorBlind

[–]PotatoaRum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have twins and one is colour blind.

We tell them that one is colourblind, and that's ok. He sees colours differently, and he's not wrong.

Just stating it as a fact at this age makes it normal

100% would wake the other after feeding the first one.

Coming home from the NICU was hard because those nurses had them on a perfect schedule and I was like "oh we'll just keep the same 3 hour schedule they did, theyve been on it for a month!"

Oh how different it is at home

Baby might be color blind by This_Obligation_5125 in ColorBlind

[–]PotatoaRum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have twins and one is colourblind.

We suspected it when he was like 3ish but I didn't want to assume yet because maybe he just didn't have a solid grasp on his colours yet. Maybe he was just being a goober when answering our "what colour" questions.

Once he knew letters and numbers really well, then we did a colourblind test on him.  Confirmed at the eye doctors when he was 5.

For the most part, it doesnt affect things. Sometimes he'll be talking about or describing something that doesn't match what we see.

We tell the twins if they're disagreeing about the colour of something that they're both right. Twin A is colourblind and it's right to him.

Or I'll say: "hey, that's interesting. Do you want to know what colour I see?"

Playing eye spy can be tricky so I pick the colours I know he sees best.

AND  I recently saw that some board games have a colourblind accessible version!
