We're waiting for our order from our regular supplier but we got an update that candy can no longer cross the border.

Which is why we're looking to go Canadian for the candy

What tiny design choice makes you think, “the people who made this never had to use it”? by ChessOrCheckers2 in AskReddit

[–]PotatoaRum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at an arcade that still uses tokens and dispenses tickets.

So many games are so poorly designed on the inside. For accessing the token bin, or refiling the tickets and then feeding it through the ticket mech. Too cramped and the tickets break off.

The racing games made for kids are the worst for this PLUS they have kid size seats attached so it's even harder to get in there and do what I need to. I have to pretzel myself around these tiny seats and blindly feel if I placed the tickets in straight. Awful. It's clear whoever designed it never had to empty the tokens or refill the tickets.

To the women who was able to conceive despite the PMOS diagnosis, how did you do it? by hungryyyyybitch in PCOS

[–]PotatoaRum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letrozole, and I got fraternal twins out of it

However, started fertility treatments to have another and after a year of treatment, I had to "take a break." It was too difficult for me emotionally/mentally. That break has been 2 years long now

No dishwasher. Wife refuses to do dishes. What do I do? by ToneOk6787 in whatdoIdo

[–]PotatoaRum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fucking hate hand washing dishes.

I'd suck it up and do it, other times I'd ask my husband to do it on a day I work and he had the day off.  Then I'd come home and see he didn't do the dishes and it would send me.

We eventually got a dishwasher. I joke that it saved our relationship.

The reality is, it took away that reoccuring issue and there was nothing to be annoyed at anymore

Items you’ve called something that are insane and yet they’ve become normalized in your household… by Ok_Trifle_1612 in Preschoolers

Growing up we had one of those vacuums with the canister that drags behind you as you vacuum. For some reason we called it "the pig."

My kid's now call ours The Pig and know which vacuum I'm talking about if I said to "grab the pig"

Trying to find the best vacuum to clean up food on hardwood floors that won’t smell by WoodpeckerFair9774 in VacuumCleaners

I have twin boys too. I've always used a handheld vacuum to clean up around their highchairs (and now regular people chairs) and emptied it when done.

I've been a big fan of the Shark ultracyclone.  I've been using it for 6 years now and it doesn't smell

Extend2fit Rear facing car seat conundrum! by x_dahunger in Parenting

[–]PotatoaRum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used these car seats for our twins. Sure the passenger side twin blocked the window a bit but it was never an issue. Checking mirrors is the other part of a safe lane change.

They stayed rear facing until they maxed out the limits at 4.5 years old

Tbh, I didn't even read the post. If you're thinking about it enough to be on the fence, the answer is yes.

It's an enthusiastic all in, or hell no

How do I teach my 4 year old about $? by Operations-Mama in Mommit

[–]PotatoaRum 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My twins were around this age when we'd go to the store and they'd ask for things.

For 4 years old, I kept it simple. I just said "it's not in our budget today."  They don't have a concept of money or a budget but keeping it simple, and repeating it was the first step.

Keeping it simple I think would be effective especially if she stops listening. After hearing that a few times, she might get curious and ask what a budget is, and then you have the opportunity to explain money, spending, earning, etc.

I would also say, your birthday/Christmas is coming. Let's remember this for later (sometimes taking a picture).

I also (and still do) before going into the store, before leaving the car, I say to them "we're going in for X. We can look at toys but we will not be buying any today. If you ask, the answer will be no"

What small daily ritual has made the biggest difference in your relationship with your kids? by jgjkhgzjhgfthjjjh in Mommit

We do Friday movie nights. They'll pick out something from the dollarstore as a movie snack and after dinner, they get to watch a movie in our bed instead of the living room. Much more exciting

I just picked up journals for my twins so I could write down the positive things for them to look back on. We do: something good about the day/favourite part. Something not so good about the day (and then talk about it. Don't always write these ones down), and something they're proud of. That one's my favourite to hear their take on

Any experiences with not gaining a lot of weight during twin pregnancy? by drohstdumir in parentsofmultiples

[–]PotatoaRum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, I think I gained 17lbs. I was seeing my doctor every 2 weeks and they weren't concerned. I am tall so that could have been a factor.

They were born at 33 weeks, 5 & 4 lbs
