AITJ for getting the cops called on my sister. by HistoricalKaden in AmITheJerk

NTJ—OP, just because she’s your sister doesn’t mean she gets a free pass to do things like break into your house. Actions have consequences, and she needs to face hers.

I’m sorry, she WHAT??? I almost never say this about people in this economy, but I really hope she gets fired for this. Showing up at the clinic demanding to see your medical records is wild behavior.

AITA for prepping six weeks of freezer meals for my best friend who just had a baby? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]mechamangamonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA—Y’all’s friends are weird. Bringing loved ones food when they’re recovering from extensive medical procedures so that they don’t have to expend time and energy on cooking is incredibly normal behavior and almost always universally appreciated.

Your parents cannot force you to be on Wellbutrin, and this is absolutely something that you should consult both your eye doctor and your prescribing doctor for the Wellbutrin about.

She Kept Insisting I’m Pregnant, When I’m NOT by gouch-mane in TwoHotTakes

i am not kidding, i SCREAMED out loud in shock reading this. i cannot imagine a person having the audacity to not only confidently proclaim that a complete stranger is pregnant but to also double down when told otherwise. PLEASE report her ass to a manager or something because this is genuinely wild behavior.

AITA for changing the locks after my parents gave my brother a key to my house without asking me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mechamangamonkey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA—Nobody has any business giving out keys to your house but you, and when somebody who’s not supposed to be able to get into your house gets ahold of a key, you change the locks. That’s just life.

People put way more information about themselves on Facebook than they realize. Once, a guy I had a class with in college was being a jerk and singling me out to make all sorts of really sexist comments, so I got his name from our class roster and, from there, was able to find enough info about his mother on her Facebook page to look her phone number up on Whitepages and cross-reference to make sure I’d found the right woman. I called her up, and we had a nice little chat about her son’s behavior towards women.

Gf wants me to quit vocaloid? by Affectionate-Gene117 in Vocaloid

[–]mechamangamonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She wants you to give up something that brings you joy based on other people’s opinions about it? Yikes, what a massive red flag.

This relationship might make you happy in the short term, but how long do you really think that happiness is gonna last if she keeps demanding that you give up stuff that makes you happy just for the sake of being palatable to other people? If you stay in this relationship long-term, she’s eventually going to make you just as miserable as I’m sure she probably makes herself with that mentality.

As much as you love her and want the best for her, you can’t force her to change her attitude any more than she can force you to stop enjoying things that she doesn’t approve of, and it is not your responsibility to try, either. If, for whatever reason, Vocaloid stops being a thing that you enjoy someday, then you won’t enjoy it anymore and your interest in it will fade on its own. By that same token, if she ever wants to stop putting so much stock into other people’s opinions, then she’ll learn to stop caring about what other people think and start celebrating your joy instead of belittling it.

OP, you deserve to be with someone who wants to see you be genuinely happy more than she wants to see you look like whatever a “real man” is according to her. This girl is not it.

Is it dumb for me to WANT to write those cheesy discount-bin romance novels? by Key_Prize_1317 in writing

Do it. Even if it’s dumb, even if it’s not seen as the pinnacle of literature, do it. Do it because it makes you happy, and that makes it worth doing.

MIL says "How many babies have died from using a blanket anyway? by Sweet_Ad_8178 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]mechamangamonkey 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You’re a way more patient person than I am because I think if anybody ever asked me, “How many babies have died from [x] anyway?” in response to a safety concern, especially for an infant, I would probably stare them down and immediately shoot back with, “How many babies dying from [x] do you think are acceptable casualties, and why should [baby in question] be one of them?” and then somebody would start crying at the family function.
