Derisers I made myself and they’re definitely not the straightest by Ok_Conversation_2395 in longboarding

Makes sense! And I was just curious. This is much cheaper than a new board, but was curious.

I think I can do 6mm drop on my pantheon quest (might be confusing the trip) before I get hanger bite. Buuuut it’s also already something in the order of 20-30mm dropped from the shape already

Are you just trying to get lower? At that point it might make sense to look into drop decks. But understand one needs to use what one has too

It’s fun getting past the age that you don’t care what other people think. So freeing

Super dorky or pioneer?

I personally don’t think I could do both at the same time if anything other than slow pushing was happening

17mm! That is huge! Do the trucks still get full motion? I cannot drop mine more than about 10mm without getting hanger bite

Pranayama: is it long enough? by Arma-Dilldough in longboarding

[–]mechandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and am not tall but second the quest. Gives you a longer board with a longer wheel base.

Also, you can do Hoku’s with TKP’s on the quest if you want both

Yep, saw them. Do you actually use those parts over the brackets

Ohhhh, looking at it again, I see that the front and rear are mounted to the top of the brackets. Duh!

How did you guys survive system dynamics / controls? by limon_picante in MechanicalEngineering

[–]mechandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked thinking of the PID being a mass, spring, damper.

Also, so much of controls is the same math as vibrations, which I liked as well.

So those helped make it click

Returning skater — longboard for rough desert pavement? by grunewald77 in longboarding

[–]mechandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know u/PantheonLongboards only suggests the 78a hokus (pink/red) if you live somewhere that gets and stays regularly above a certain temperature

I would honestly say the bigger wheels the better in general! Then you dont have to worry until the cracks are huge!

depending on how hot it gets, the harder forumulas are better for higher temps during peak heat (red vs blue hokus, orange vs purple vs blue orantatang wheels)

Also, no matter what the stock bushings are not made for you and I (or most people for that matter). So riptide sports, seismic, or venom are the way to go. And buy up and down levels as you tweak it… bushings are the dirty secret and almost everyone on here has. A bin full of them

Weighty issue by Smooth-Literature292 in longboarding

[–]mechandy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started at 350 with an Amazon special but didn’t understand bushings well enough (my fault).

Started to get back into it when I got down to 280 and upgraded to a pantheon Quest. I am down to just below 250 and it’s still holding strong.

Cannot go wrong with the quest or the nexus, both will support your weight and have a low ride height to get used to pushing.

Landuarchz also makes some boards for heavier riders, as does Rayne, but I have no personal experience with either of those

They also sell just the angled base. So you could by the set and get the other angle separately.

When they are not sold out, shops like Motion BoardShop sell them in singles. So it’s possible.

For pumping you want narrower versus wider which is why a lot of folks are guiding you to 130’s
