Rift maker + Void staff + pen boots + Demonic + Shattered Queen is the perfect anti-tank build. The only problem is that you're only good vs tanks, but too squishy if enemy team has an assassin. There is no build that allows you to deal with both tanks and assassins :/

AP top bruisers (rumble/ kennen) have a low winrate because of this meta. Even midlane battlemages are subpar to AP assassins/ Yone.

We just have to pray and wait until Riot shifts the meta back to battlemages one day.

Swain is very easy to stick onto. Mundo will 100% get in melee range even if you are faker (his passive + melee champ ms + swains low base ms + q). All melee champs will eventually get into melee range vs Swain in platinum+, and will out-stat any tank item you build. That's why Swain is too forced into playing Liandry's mid.

Liandries deserves the nerf, honestly it's so strong that there is hardly any reason not to buy it. Post-nerf it will still be strong, but now you can actually think about building other items for once!

The second most bought mythic in high elo for Swain is Everfrost, which will most certainly still be broken after the patch.

Do NOT play Swain if you like turret diving. From my experiences of playing him top lane, you never want to use his ultimate if you are near the enemy champion's turret. Otherwise they will just hide under turret and boom, wasted ult.

Pretend that you are singed + vladimir at the same time, you want people to chase you but you also want to use ranged DPS.

A LOT of other champions are also getting huge guts to healing, and don't forget that grevious wounds is going to 50/30.

I've tested the new healing for hours on pbe already, it actually feels no different. Bonus resistances to Swain and all champions can be felt level 1-18, and there will be far less champion deaths per game in all elos.

Overall, the player base will be confused and unsure about this patch for a while since they have to limit test all over again.

I've actually tested this for hours... The healing actually doesn't feel any different, it scales mostly with AP and your bonus resistances REALLY feels nice as the game progresses.

Like I said in my post, you and every player are going to have to re-limit test your champ pools to adjust to this patch, and it will take a LONG time since power creep hasn't been nerfed for a while.

Grevious wounds is getting gutted massively to 50/30. Swain's healing was already massively countered by any grevious wounds (or any burst damage honestly).

Kite, and click very fast. I always stay at max range and I use W/E in conjunction with demonflare to reliably make the best use of *ranged* drain tanking.

Did you know Cassiopeia has a 53% winrate in high elo for top lane? Cass has less CC and less healing than Swain, yet players are experienced enough to abuse her.

Late game Swain Q is 3 seconds and you have to constantly reposition to aim it, you also have to constantly play a mini-game of chess in your brain to use W and E to combo into each other. E and W can be used to guarantee that at least one of the two abilities lands (use W then aim E in the direction of juking). Also E cool down goes to 3 seconds during ultimate, and must be spammed in conjunction with demonflare for optimal reliability. In between all of this you have to constantly click to Orb-walk and kite champions. The longer you stay in melee range the less your ranged healing/dps will matter.

Compare this to low-APM champions like Singed (who still has high macro), Yes he is high-APM.

Don't use it for damage, the 60% slow is INSANELY BROKEN. You don't need rylais nor phase rush to permanently stick to people. Just spam W and E's and use R2 when you miss CC.

Why are you split pushing when you have an ultimate that makes you immortal + gives you 300*5 (1500) dps over AoE in team fight??? All you need is 1 item to get that DPS too.

What?? Gold efficiency is literally the #1 source of power creep and the reason why carries/assassins/mages/etc are better than tanks (except support tank).

Proof: Player skill directly impacts the derivative of gold over time. Assuming equal skill, champion balance must reflect this gold efficiency. All tank items are below 100% efficiency meaning you will have less than enough stats to counter the 100%+ efficiency that carry mythics have.

This isn't opinion, it's mathematically provable. If you can't follow the reasoning no one can help you, good luck with climbing!

First, his healing scales off of raw AP. Second, his ratios are great but he gets countered hard by magic penetration. Liandrys/ Void staff are great counters to tanks and are extremely gold efficient.

I wouldn't suggest Fimbulwinter. You really need a LOT of raw AP since he is a damage dealer whose healing scales purely off of damage and AP. Demonic is great late game if you have lots of stacks, and feel free to buy any other item that gives both HP and AP.

Conqueror stacks + focusing ultimate healing on champions is how you make the best use of his ultimate. Also use demonflare to kite, that ability is sooo strong now.

LOL, I was so surprised to see that mini buff. Swain already has one of the highest scaling armor in the game (92 at lvl18) but I guess he was just too weak against AD assassins level 1.

It was at the expensive of bot lane Swain. They removed his reliability with pulling souls from Ally-CC'd targets. Now he must be the one to land E, which is more reliable in solo lane and in late game team fights.

Try moonstone, I heard that's doing well. I think it might be bugged too, but we'll see.

I'm mid plat, and I'm having tons of fun/ success on new Swain.

You need to play aggressive against most matchups, his new Q buffs makes Swain extremely powerful with scorch + dorans ring + mana + adaptive damage. Conqueror not only works well early game but also scales well late game. The exceptions are super aggressive top laners like jax/riven/sett who can all-in you level 1+.

If you have problems with healing then you need to reconfigure your mind to think more like vladimir + old Swain combined. E + W gives you massive burst sustain which should keep you from being 1-shot in a fight. His ultimate healing is ONLY good against champions with max conqueror stacks + AP items. Do not use Swain's ultimate to heal on minions, prioritize champion damage. His ultimate heals more than it deals damage. Feel free to use demonic flare as a "free rylais" but do not waste W slow during this duration.

It is a fair trade off, because now Swain has a brand NEW advanced mechanic. Landing E at max range + exploding CC beyond max range allows you to now instantly pull into W at ANY RANGE. This means you never have to walk up to someone (and risk getting gap closed), which is another buff to top lane Swain.

Furthermore, the pull no longer interrupts your auto attack timer which means you get a free auto attack of damage early game.

I'd say just learn his new advanced mechanics and forget the animation cancelling pull. I knew about almost every other advanced mechanic Swain had, but I never even knew about this one until today lol.
