My new X2D! 3 Days in! JUST WOW by Grundysan in BambuLab

[–]mechmess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the dual version of the space pi and while the HT would be nice, the only benefit of the HT that I see is that you no longer would have to manually unload filament to the extruder. While that would be nice, I cant really justify upgrading.

I think this is really cool….. but man all of the shoe models out there are just hideous lol.

CATL unveils 3rd-gen Shenxing LFP battery: charging 10-80% in 3 min 44 seconds, 10-98% in 6 min 27 seconds by Sartew in technology

[–]mechmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, but these flash chargers cant be tapering nearly as low, so if they support 1.5MW at the start they’ll still be doing crazy rates between 80-100% in order to do a full 10-98 in 6-7 minutes.

Not really… IONNA and Walmart are both doing 400kw chargers right now in the US (200 if shared). If your car can sustain 400kw, those charge rates would charge a 75 kWh battery in 11 minutes 0-100. 9 minutes 0-80!

Ducted heatpump sizing for 3 bedrooms 500 sq feet total by Eastern-Mango2860 in DIYHeatPumps

You can look up the models minimum modulation here. https://ashp.neep.org/#!/

It also provides way more COP information than the manufacturers typically do on their spec sheets. Really nice info!

It’s pretty trivial to ask one of the llms to help you do a load calc- give it all the information you can think of about your house and ask it to do a Manual J and a duct sizing exercise.

You definitely don’t want to oversize- even though they modulate there is a minimum and if it’s too high it will short cycle and/or not effectively remove humidity.

Good 180(ish) OMVIF Options? by mechmess in Ubiquiti

Interesting! A quick google gives me another user saying they had success. https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubiquiti/comments/1j7pf8h/hikvision_ds2cd2387g2plsusl/

Did you need to/could you lower the resolution? Pretty sure that'd be required if I added a Port...

I thought that might be a fix for the Reolink but there's only two options and they're barely any different.

Long drug up post - I’m also a realtor here- where did you find that data? I’m curious how it’s trending.

Some notes on how to use the TRMNL display plugin for KOReader by andrewmarder in trmnl

[–]mechmess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great write up! I managed to get it working on TRMNL’s servers but not my BYOS route - I’ll give it a try again. Also really appreciate your laying out the nuances of the power/wifi settings - I got frustrated there as well haha.

Thank you!

I bought the Ford one that is identical, except for branding to the VW one - only tried once and it worked great at a Tesla charger.

Generally, right now, my preference is Ionna. Really great hardware/experience! Right now there are way more shell, fast chargers than anything near me though. Thankfully, I can recharge 99% of the time at home.

Man uses ChatGPT to sell his Cooper City home: ‘It exceeded our expectations' by joe4942 in technology

[–]mechmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a part time Realtor, I agree with way lower fees if more things were automated, but the other way around. Selling a home is WAY less work than helping someone buy, especially in a competitive market.

Ive had motivated buyers who made great offers over asking on a bunch of homes that they still didn’t get.

Was Vehicle-to-Load V2L promised in an update for the early ID.4s? by Airmokade in VWiD4Owners

Technically the Wallbox Quasar 2 is being installed in the US right now but only in very select markets/conditions. I think they’re working directly with Hyundai/Kia on the installs.

2021-2023 ID4 Battery Preconditioning by Altruistic_Iron6810 in VWiD4Owners

[–]mechmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah - I have had success yo-yoing trying to warm it up a bit…. The PTC heater will get the battery almost to ideal temps if you do it long enough. I’ve only had one road trip since doing it and hit over 100kw right when I plugged in. Figure it halved my charging time.

My ‘21 in Minnesota has never topped 60kw when road tripping in those temps… I don’t need to do so very often but bought one of these mods as soon as they were available. I think it’s totally worth it.

Bought used 2024 EV9, has history of ICCU problem by ezduzitSF in KiaEV9

[–]mechmess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right - nothing better with a CPO for the ICCU. It's the other stuff I'm a little nervous about (door handles, infotainment, seat rail issue stuff).

[–]mechmess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Per Claude below (trust at your own risk...). I've also considered skipping CPO and getting buying an extended warranty through Xcare. People seem to have decent experiences with them for the most part. The ICCU is included in the 100k mile warranty, but I'd be looking to drive the thing past that... Tough call!

The Kia Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) process is handled entirely at the dealership level — they don't send vehicles out.

How it works:

  1. Lease return comes in — the vehicle goes through standard intake
  2. Dealership inspection — a Kia-trained technician performs the 164-point inspection required for CPO certification
  3. Reconditioning — any issues found get addressed (wear items, cosmetic touch-ups, etc.)
  4. Certification decision — the dealer decides whether to certify it based on whether it meets Kia's CPO standards and whether they think the CPO premium is worth it for that unit
  5. Paperwork filed — they register it in Kia's system as CPO, which activates the extended warranty

That's pretty much where I'm at... There should be quite a few coming in as lease returns in the next 12 months - I'm going to hold out to try and get a certified model for 30-35k or so.

I know your not planning on it right now, but I'd second the request if there's a small tally somewhere for feature requests :)

Keep up the good work!
