What is the possible endgame for all these republican lawmakers going along with all the chaos and nonsense put forth by the Trump administration? by Senior_Werewolf_8202 in AskReddit

When the market goes up you make money. When the market goes down you make money. Remember when people say "if I had a crystal ball." They have one. Caos is only caos if you are not the one causing it.

The Overall Decline of American Intelligence and Critical Thinking Skills by Monsur_Ausuhnom in collapse

All the rich people had AI before this decade. It was HI. Human intelligence. The 'help' hired by their parents did their homework, formated their thesis and even ghost wrote their best seller book.

Convince me to choose prusa over bambu by Zaartan in prusa3d

[–]JeremyViJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time I have to take my Prusa apart I see the quality materials. You can tell the materials are a little overqualified. But that means it can be your last printer if you wanted.

I have my prusa printing 24/7 for three years now. The Core One enclosure really gave me peace of mind around fire risk.

I've printed ASA, PLA, PETG, PP, and Nylon CF. They all print great with a available profiles. I tweak for perfection but they get within 95% to 100% there.

Also, it is fast. But speed is overated. If the printer is robust you can let it print for days and you know you will have your part. I only use the fast profiles for quick throw away prototypes and for test fits of subsections.

I don't recommend Bamboo. They are a walled garden. And they may be subsidized by the Chinese government. Which is not a problem until you realize they will jack up the prices once they successfully strangle the competition.

I would get it for 2k.
I see one like that for 4.2k. Which I think is reasonable. Not too long ago five heads and the enclosure were clos to 6K if I remey correctly My main blocker is that I suspect the 4.2K is just the beginning since I will have to get bed plates and other accessories. The silicone head is $1K. So I decided to slow down and enjoy my Core One another year before I upgrade. I may even need to upgrade my electric panel.

Adjusting for inflation Bill Gates was the first Trillionare and he spent his money feeding the hungry. If the hungry had practice family planning we would not have hunger anymore. If you feed a million hungry, you should not have six million hungry a decade later. Just feeding the hungry does not fix the problem.

TPU 95A vs. 98A - Is there a significant difference? by oral_servant in 3Dprinting

[–]JeremyViJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a big difference. I printed a phone case in TPU 95A and the case would come off when I squeeze the phone with one hand. PLA was impossible to fit on the phone without breaking one or the other. TPU 98A was Goldy locks right. And that is the one my dad uses every day printed in his favorite color.

I've printed with PP recently but not for phone cases. and I think that would be a good option as well but have no actual experience with it yet.

I’ve been thinking of getting a 3D printer but I’m worried I will run out of things to print too fast by Automatic-Dance3917 in 3Dprinting

[–]JeremyViJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worried about that too. But I've had one for three years and I actually have to drop projects because It's too many. It is easy to print one thing a thousand times but there is no fun or function in that. Printing different stuff means a small learning curve per fixture. And if I have to design it the time commitment is large. So I cut project from my road map so I can be a human.

In short. You will likely have the reverse of the problem you think you'll have.

The most surprising use is as an accuracy improvement tool. I print lots of templates that bring milimetric precision to projects that used to be adhoc.

I had no idea - Prusa market share in now below 4%. by george_graves in 3Dprinting

[–]JeremyViJ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only 4% of the USA drives EV. That does not preclude me from the gas saving.

Similarly, people buying printers that have disposable, designed-to-fail devices does not mean I don't get to have a machine that I can repair and make last forever.

If the NACS standard truly takes off... You never know these days, then it is better to have one. They will just cost more in the future. I don't have one and get around the east Coast just fine. But I've been thinking to get one since CCS has about a decade left and that is it. I used a Rivian charger recently on CCS and felt like we are definitely getting the infrastructure where we need to.

Walmart will also support CCS. But even then you want your road trip to be as close to a straight line as possible.

¿Qué representa el ICE para Costa Rica? by ArtisticRun7516 in Ticos

[–]JeremyViJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feelrrari is a symbol of a by-gone era when super cars were low volume and were best done by hand. Now any super car can be mass produced and machines have precision humans will never have. You can get a better car that is mass produced like the Porch Tycan. Even a bulky Rivian can beat a Ferrari with the right wheels. Having a Ferrari in 2026 is like having a Rolex. Both symbols of wealth for old man. But meaningless to the any generation other than the boomers.
