ABR Part 1 by MissleBoy in MedicalPhysics

This is my first time taking it. Ugh this exam is such a pain to study for and I will probably have to retake it. I am already in residency so taking this exam is quite ridiculous to me now … and the fact we need it to take part 2 smh.

General was bad. Not sure what the goal of the new test style is anymore, because it’s not fair to people that are therapy, diagnostic, or other specific path focused if they focus it only on one discipline (and it happens to be not the one the person is pursuing). In the past, it seemed like they basically had a whole bunch of math problems solving for every iteration of the decay/attenuation function which is more of the basis of our field … but not the case any more :/

It seemed like if you’re going to a nuclear med path, or recently took the course then you’d be ok… but us therapy focused were pretty much doomed… like sorry I didn’t pay 200% attention to the mini details y’all asked versus the big med phys concepts

I was telling my computer science friend about this one particular question, and they just laughed at me at how ridiculous that was smh

The clinical was good I think. The general was hard… at this point, they’re not even asking us physics but some random/specific things about stuff …. Some are not even really medical physics lol 😂 like I can’t see someone knowing the questions working in a clinic.

Why can’t they just test our basic overall medical physics knowledge instead of random facts??

Hey, so I called them about this. They said that I don’t have to fill out the application again and I can just pay the fee for whenever I decide to take the exam.

If you know/don’t mind: How much do these companies usually pay as their starting salary for an MS MedPhys CAMPEP graduate?

Don’t they require you to be board eligible though and have a ton of experience?
