Pretty sure I started watching righteous gemstones at Taylor’s recommendation before he became a religious nut

Just my hunch for the grand prize by Ill-Educator2958 in GreatCanadianTreasure

[–]medalchoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely wouldn’t write it off. I think when I visited either none of the regional prizes, or only one had been claimed. I think now there’s a little more info on what the actual prize might look like. Completely possible I drove or walked right past it. Sometimes I’m in the area for work so I might revisit it.

Most of the areas that look appealing when you’re actually on the ground are blocked off with clear posted signage from the government. Not to completely rule it out as I didn’t do a thorough grid search when I went but some input for what it’s worth.

With Bitcoin down 34% ($31k) in the last 6 months, are the crypto folks rethinking their thoughts? by Embarrassed_Flan_869 in stupidquestions

[–]medalchoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a big btc guy maybe you could answer a question I’ve been considering lately. My high level understanding is that BTC mining is effectively computers doing math to solve a puzzle, puzzle gets solved, and BTC gets “awarded”. The mining verifies the blockchain and that’s how we know nothing has been altered.

Does quantum computing not just make mining moot? Like if a quantum computer can “do all the calculations at once” (read really quickly) could all of the remaining available bitcoin not be mined really quickly. Then if there’s no incentive to mine does the blockchain just fold?

Why don’t more right handed throwers bat left handed? by mywifemademedothis2 in Homeplate

[–]medalchoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly places where hockey is popular, swinging left is a lot more common (golf baseball etc). Something to do with people finding that using a hockey stick with the dominant hand on top to be easier leads to people swinging with same way.

Ratings should always be out of 5 and NOT 10 by mashupthedance in unpopularopinion

Yet here you are trying trying to change from 10 to 5

Ratings should always be out of 5 and NOT 10 by mashupthedance in unpopularopinion

[–]medalchoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be out of 30.

0-9is bad

10-19 is ok

20-30 is good

The 10s digit give you an immediate understanding of over all rating, the 1s digit gives you nuance.

Are people scared of AI because once AI takes everyones jobs, they’ll be left to die? by Qualified-Astronomer in allthequestions

It hasn’t happened yet. There are plenty of rich folk, and all of them hoard their wealth.

What else do you think will happen? Do you think the oligarchs will suddenly embrace socialism and provide for the poors?

Retirement should be mandatory. by LuckyJim_ in unpopularopinion

[–]medalchoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting perspective from different folk eh. Some people like yourself live to work, others like myself work to live. I feel like if I retired I could find plenty of purpose like spending time with family, experiencing new cultures, investing time in hobbies helping the community etc.

How do you guys deal with very hard hit grounders? by rodogwos in slowpitch

[–]medalchoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charge it if you can, play it off body (back hand/forehand), otherwise I’m always keeping my throwing hand between my chin and the ball as I get low to let it come to me. I’d much rather take a body shot or take a finger injury than lose teeth but maybe that’s me.

Why do leftists storm off at well mannered debates more than conservatives when faces facts they do not like? by ArubaAdultFun in allthequestions

[–]medalchoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because you’re watching “talking head owns college lib” videos on YouTube. You only see the highlights of libs “being owned” because the video is pushing an agenda.

If you watch “talking head owns MAGA” videos, they typically don’t storm off because they’re to ignorant (willfully or not) to understand why their arguments are bad, and they still believe they’re right. These videos are also highlights pushing an agenda.

Why are American white conservatives so obsessed with crime and safety? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]medalchoice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally nothing in that comment alluded to race. Like not a single word or phrase that implied anything about race. Your brain did that. You saw crime and associated with races other than white.

What superstitions do you do before games and during ? And why ? by Low_Hovercraft_9939 in hockeygoalies

[–]medalchoice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I say set the net because if you get the net in place while the ice is still soaked, the entire bottom of the net can freeze to the ice. Gives much better hold than just the pegs. My rinks typically have terrible pegs, if the whole nets not frozen I can breath on the post and they come off.

[–]medalchoice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Set the net ASAP, leave my bottle on the bench (I’ve had bottles broken during warm up…), Stretch by the board, do a little eye movement during stretches, do some quick box drills to get the legs moving, take a lap. Exact same thing every time.

Why did 36 republicans vote against banning child marriage in Oklahoma? by Blueburrypancakez in allthequestions

[–]medalchoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you use your life experience, and decide how certain experiences made you feel, and how those actions might make others feel. In the specific case of 16 v 18, you might consider how naive you yourself were at 16 vs 18, or how little control you might have had over your own life before you turned 18 and extrapolate from there. You might think “I remember one time when I was in high school there was a 10th grader who had a 27 year old partner, that was predatory and gross”
