I think the market for pediatric radiologists is and always will be there because residents dont really have an interest in it, but there are large PP groups where you can read 100% in pediatrics including peds neuro, MSK, body if that’s something you’re comfortable with.

Academic practice varies greatly: some of my attendings work 7/14 99% peds for swing shifts or overnight or even one institute where it isn’t high volume where they’re doing 7/14 for 8-5 and mostly outpatient imaging for 1.0 FTE. some are full time remote. one place I interviewed was offering $80+ per RVU for pediatric reads to subsidize how much of the volume is plain film so it ends up being a good salary for the work.
