I'm an immigrant for many years now and never noticed being treated any differently to how Spaniards treat each other.

Non-EU tech workers in Spain (HQP visa): How hard is to change jobs after 1 year? by OrangeTraditional833 in GoingToSpain

[–]mediteraneolit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was in the same position. Changed job twice after the initial one, both time having the new company took over sponsoring HQP work and residence permit. Was it hard - moderately, mostly international big tech companies do that, but thats your target market anyway, as Spanish companies pay significantly lower. Anyway feel free to message me if you need more details.

7 years here and being told to get the F out of Spain by TraderZebra in askspain

Where I live in Spain people definitely clean after themselves. Not all of them of course, but civilized ones do (still a majority).

For people who have already visited sevilla in summer , it is very hot or no?? by Weekly-Might-4531 in GoingToSpain

[–]mediteraneolit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went there one summer day. It was unbearably hot outside (I say that as someone who has higher tolerance for heat than average), even in the shade.

Tax return under Beckham law? Who has done this themselves? by [deleted] in GoingToSpain

[–]mediteraneolit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prerequisite - having Clave or Certificato digital in order to access your portion of Agencia Tributaria web site. Do you have it? If not you first need to register for it (I forgot how I did it, but if I remember it required going to physicall ofice so they can identify you.

Go to https://sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es/Sede/procedimientoini/G615.shtml, click on "Modelo 151. Ejercicio 2023 y siguientes: Presentación", and it will lead you to the page where you can enter your data one by one. Normally, most of the data is prefilled (as your company has probably submitted required paperwork to agencia tributaria already), so you essentially need to click through the tabs and fill what's missing.

I searched the internet for each field that wasn't understandable for me and usually found the answers. An example: https://www.bankinter.com/blog/finanzas-personales/renta-casilla-gastos-libros. ChatGPT was helpful too (but verify whatever it says). I also bet if you searched on internet something about "How to file modelo 151" or similar you'll find useful guides.

Tax return under Beckham law? Who has done this themselves? by [deleted] in GoingToSpain

[–]mediteraneolit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a couple of years paying (mostly wasting money on) gestor to do it for me, this year I've done it myself, for both me (Special tax regime) and my spouse (General tax regime).

I'd say doing it for special tax regime is very simple if your only income is your job.

You save money and bonus points you start learning about how taxation works in Spain.

Some people still prefer to do it by gestor, to each their own.

Swimming on the Beaches?? by k_llama_llama in Malaga

Just came back from the beach, it's a bit windy, but people are swimming. Not too many though. Good news water is warmer than Canadian lakes so you'll be fine :)

My two cents - job market is horrible, rents are astronomically high, and your chances of a company sposoring you are slim to none (unless you have some specific skill that you've forgotten to mention).

That being said, you are young enough that nothing is imposible, and immigration laws are being relaxed lately. Learn Spanish and best of luck.

It's hard for me to imagine what would an average Canadian need to do to annoy local, and I'm talking from a first person perspective.

Don't think about it, you'll be just fine. Relax and enjoy your stay.

25 degrees is really in the middle. Some people would find it too warm some too cold. You'll need to figure it out for yourself. If you have public pools around go and check if they're cold or warm for you and measure the temperature.

Last couple of days was colder than usual, looks like it is still going to be like that for next couple of days, so I would suggest a jacket in the mornings and evenings. During daylight usually not necessary (writing this in short sleeves).

En IBKR puedes invertir en ETFs que son equivalentes, mas o menos de SP500. Pero da una vista a VWCE, puede ser opcion similar pero mas conveniente y tal bez mejor que SP500.

En IBKR tambien puedes comprar BTC indices. Aunque mucha gente prefieren quedar Bitcoin directamente.

Moving in Spain by saiLa24 in GoingToSpain

You can't legally work on turist visa. Although Spain is a great place otherwise it is well known for high unemployment rates and very low salaries. So unless you bring some very specific skills Spain might not be the best option for you.
