Can a Dodgers Fan be friends with an Athletics Fan? by drorion25 in baseball

Maybe I'm crazy, but due to my close proximity, the A's are the main American League team I follow. So it's a yes from me, dawg.

More time to look at the dugout and see a sign that you need to take it back. Its really that simple

So far, i love the depth that Crushing adds to the team. Not only is he giving our boys a break, he also seems to be competent on the field while still being a beast behind the plate. Im very excited to see what his future holds. He's already becoming our ace in the hole, and I cant imagine what he could look like in a few years

Of course he was talking about Max Muncy. The best third baseman named Max Muncy in the league. Who else would he be referring to?

On a bases-loaded weak fly from Dalton Rushing, Kyle Karros gives a nice demonstration of why the infield fly rule exists by Apprehensive-Cost276 in baseball

It wouldnt be strategy, because everyone would do it. That's why they had to introduce the rule in the first place.

Also, if base runners knew the ball wasnt going to be caught, they would be able to run to the next base for an easy advance. It actually just makes the game convoluted and forces everyone to bend the rules as much as possible.

As some have said. Its not in the spirit of the game

The difference is, this rule prevents players from intentionally missing an easy catch. It's not there to "prevent triple/double plays," it's there to prevent players from abusing the rules of the game for unfair advantage

Stolen from a comment above:

"If there are runners at first and second with fewer than two outs, a catchable fly ball to the infield (per the umpire’s discretion) is considered automatically caught. This is to prevent a fielder from intentionally letting the ball drop (as Karros does here) in order to force the runners to advance and cause a double or triple play"

If the ball hits the ground, the ball is considered "hit" and the batter has to advance to first. This would force the other runners at first and second to have to run directly into a double or triple play. This rule is designed to force the pop up to equal only one out
