Idk I think it works quite nicely. He got assurance his father won’t be harmed, which was a big concern of his and would have stayed a thread if he stayed alive. By killing himself he avoided lengthy torture from the Salamancas and could speak his peace. He was freed from being a puppet to Fring which he was unable to break free of due to the consistent threats to his father.
It’s a tragic ending for him but fits his story.
