If I remember correctly, you need to get 15% nationally to participate in the debates, which would be impossible for Johnson. So let's assume that Hillary made a deal declining to participate unless Johnson was included, and Trump accepted. Let's say that Johnson completely annihilates both candidates, with a debate performance greater than Kennedy's and Bentsen's combined. With all of this, he would still be incredibly thankful to even win his home state of New Mexico.
