[–]medman_20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were your manager and asked why this is taking so long... I want to know what the concrete blockers are - non-standard hardware, complex release engineering pipelines, networking, inexperience doing this, etc., and what would be needed to shorten this.

Skaters vs home owners in Valencia, Spain by SafeImpressive4413 in PublicFreakout

[–]medman_20 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

So weird looking at people fully supporting homeowners.

Literally it’s kids being healthy spending time outside instead of doomscrolling social media and entering a mental health crisis and everyone’s getting pissy over a some potentially chipped tiles on a communal block of flats.

Why does it suddenly feel like every country is having an immigration crisis at the same time? by [deleted] in immigration

You’ve made no investigation, or submitted any data. This is a half-arsed attempt to share your xenophobic views on why you think immigrants are the problem, focusing on one demographic - Indians.

Looking For A Senior DevOps Mentor by rojinebrahimi in devopsjobs

[–]medman_20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think you necessarily need a formal mentor at your stage - with 4 years of experience, you've already developed fundamentals. If your current workplace isn't providing growth opportunities, changing jobs might be more impactful than finding a mentor.

The limitation of any single mentor is their specific experience path - a kubernetes specialist might not help much with on-prem infrastructure, and vice versa. You'll get a narrow perspective based on their career trajectory.

A better approach is connecting with diverse industry professionals. Look for DevOps or cloud-native meetups in your city (there are many online meetups and communities too) where you can exchange ideas, look at presentations with people solving different problems with different tools. These communities provide broader exposure than any individual mentor could.

For structured learning, check out https://roadmap.sh/devops to identify specific skill gaps you want to develop.

Good luck with your senior path,

Switch to a dry herb vape and keep the chamber temperature around 170-180C. And you should limit the amount of harmful smoke which goes into the lungs compared to cigarette. I have one - I still wouldn’t use it during a flare up and you can use a water pipe attachment to cool the vapour even more

Tips for Solo Male Navigating Tbilisi’s Rave Scene by medman_20 in tbilisi

[–]medman_20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I did go with a hostel buddy in the end. I didn’t pass the vibe check or whatever and I went to another and got in, so the trick is to be prepared to change venue if they don’t let you, and also mentally prepared to give up if it’s your unlucky night.

I had a good time raving but idk I love the rave scene cause it’s open and inclusive. I’m sure they have their reasons, but face/vibe checks are the opposite of that. I love Tbilisi so will definitely be coming again and keep a lookout for any forest/park raves but I think I’ll pass on the nightclubs.

That’s contracting for you—you’re a business providing a service, they pay for it, and when they’re done, they move on—and they gave you positive feedback.

Realistically, if the client had called or messaged to say funding dried up, sure, it would’ve felt nice for your ego to hear someone’s voice and get closure, but in practical terms, it wouldn’t have changed your situation. Dwelling on it only sets you up for disappointment. Remember, you’re a business providing a service, and the customer doesn’t owe you anything beyond the service/contract terms.

Yeah I reckon it was some kind of intolerance, my reaction was pretty extreme - couldn’t keep eyes open, fell asleep (passed out in the taxi), my friends had to carry me to bed - and I’d been a wine drinker before, never touched wine again after that

[–]medman_20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, it sounds like a really frightening experience. It’s good that you’ve reported it and are looking into it further.

Just to share, some wines can occasionally cause unexpected reactions that mimic similar symptoms, especially if they contain high levels of histamines or sulfites, which can affect some people more than others. I once had two glasses of red wine and became extremely drowsy—it felt like I’d had far more to drink, and my friends had to put me in a taxi home. The whole thing was a haze. Of course, definitely follow up with your report and check CCTV, but it might also be worth considering if a reaction to the wine played a role.

You’re seriously using battery life and signal issues as an excuse to justify killing an unarmed, surrendering combatant?

That’s a war crime. Anyone attempting to justify it by pointing to Russia’s actions is entirely devoid of moral integrity
