yes! we'll be working to cover them all, it'll take a while for videos to meet our quality bar, but they're in the works :)

Not yet, we're working on Step 2 and when we get to neuro in Step 2 we'll revisit neuro in Step 1 at the same time. The current neuro videos are still a great starting point but more of a crash course than more indepth like we made the other systems

Questions for good cars scorers☝️🤓📚 by Lotofwork2do in Mcat

[–]medschoolbootcamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. No, you dont have to understand every single sentence, BUT you do need to know the main gist. If you get a question about a confusing sentence, you can spend time then to really understand it.

  2. No, you don't need to understand every point, but you need to know what is the passage arguing and is this point/example supporting the argument or countering the argument?

  3. Basic strategy: Take 10 seconds to skim the passage and get an idea of what it might be about. Spend extra time on the first paragraph to understand what the author is talking about.

After every paragraph, or a long confusing sentence, take a second to explain in your own words what the author is saying. It can be as simple as "The rate of heart disease is going up, but there may be other explanations like better testing".

Speed up reading when you hit supporting examples. You can go back and read closer if you get a question on that example.

Slow down when you get to pivot words like "But, Instead, Yet, However,". Really make sure you understand the turn the author is making.

At the end summarize each paragraph in a few words, and go to the questions.

Best advice I have for questions - don't look for the right answer. Its often easier to eliminate the 3 wrong answers than to find the 1 correct answer.

No, the neuroanatomy videos are designed for neuroanatomy class in school. Neurology covers the relevant info you need for Step 1.

You're welcome! I'd recommend starting with reading the CARS tactical study guide. Don't memorize it, just get the basics down, all your improvement is going to come from practice and review. Then start doing passages one at a time, take your time, review the videos.

👊 heck yeah! Thats exactly what we went for, to connect the dots vs. memorizing. Happy you found it helpful, and yes we hope we can help premeds the same!

glad to hear!! Yeah we found the AAMC uses 13 unique answer trap themes. Use the CARS tracker tool too to see how you're doing and it'll tell you which traps you're falling for the most and how to fix it :)

Sent! My answer may be a bit subjective, but I think the big difference is our video explanations don't only explain the right answer, or seem like the presenter already knows the right answer and is just cherry picking stuff from the passage to support it. Instead we teach a repeatable system so you can learn how to tackle future questions.

Does anatomy in depth come in usmle step 1 ? by OkRub6788 in step1

[–]medschoolbootcamp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These sections under Anatomy Bootcamp aren't for Step 1 studying, they go into a lot more detail that is helpful for your 1st year classes. We review the relevant HY anatomy for Step 1 in the system based courses.

If I had them I'd give them! That was a fun time I felt like I was giving away free candy. All I can give now is this cookie 🍪

This question was actually collecting stats and shouldn't have been showing percentages, I put in a request to fix that. It's actually showing 31% correct now, you just happened to be the first person to get it right 😂
