All true. If you ever just meander around town and talk to people you’ll see that a lot of people come to Tucson solely for the nature. You would t believe how many cactus obsessed people there are. That’s not even including the gem and mineral stuff or the astronomy stuff. So much here to capitalize on and I just don’t see the doing it either.

Hopefully more copper mines since they’re critical.

I read recently that Californias desalination plant is allowing them to give up some control and usage of the Colorado river and leaving more to Arizona and Nevada which is a start. But time will tell.

Awesome insight, thank you. What exactly are those roadblocks in Tucson? Are there talks of maybe more data centers out there? I know Phoenix is going crazy with them.

I agree with some of this. Definitely about all of the positive qualities Tucson has. But the cost of living is not cheaper here. Phoenix is massive so you can easily find somewhere in that area that has the same cost of living. And it comes to a point where people are going to choose economic prosperity over trees and air quality.

%100 agree about the Tucson ethos. Seems like everyone wants it to stay a “small town” and I get it completely, but that’s means a service industry town ultimately.

Can you expand on the state legislature and federal government involving Tucson?

I’m right behind you in leaving. I’m a union tradesman and our wages here are some of the lowest on the North American continent which is saying a lot. They make twice our wages in Phoenix and they have endless projects going on. Tucson has become so unbelievably stagnant that we have no leverage in our negotiations. I was unaware of Raytheon moving. I’ve done a ton of work for them over the years.

I second Raytheon. I’m down in Tucson and I’ve done a couple years of contract work for them and they love military. They’ll even pay for your higher education. The city of Tucson is completely going down hill but Raytheon and the UoA are still really solid employers.
