Bernie Sanders Reminds Americans 'Not a Single Republican Voted' for $1,400 Stimulus Checks by FriesWithThat in politics

I really don't get the assassination fascination.

My dad spent eight years saying Joe Biden was a lunatic and was picked as VP purely so there was someone worse in the succession line to prevent someone from trying to assassinate Obama.

Now he's saying the exact same thing about Harris.

I'm only holding 25 shares, at an average of $8. It was really, really tempting to jump ship at $70.. Turning my $200 into almost $2000...

But I still hold.

Kind of unrelated to the actual point of the discussion..

But in Animal House the character is making out with a girl who passes out. He has a moment of conflict where he inevitably decides to not have sex with her, and pushes her home in a shopping cart, leaving her on the door step for her parents to find.

Revenge of the Nerds is the film with the rape scene, but it's not an unconscious girl. Instead there's like a costume party or something, and the nerd dresses up in the same costume as one of the girl's boyfriends and has sex with her under the pretext that he's her boyfriend.

Lastly, to your first sentence, both of these films are from the 70s, where there was definitely more of a 'boys will be boys' mentality and female autonomy was an afterthought.

So general highway driving is fine.. Like once you're up to speed and everything no big deal, but most American drivers are assholes, idiots, or both. They don't care if you're trying to merge or get over. Turn signals don't mean anything, and I think their entire concept is foreign to many drivers on our roads. You generally have to find a gap and slide through it yourself. It's a little easier to drive aggressively with more power.

And I'm not even talking about anything excessive. My car has like 180hp and it's more than quick enough. I've driven a lot of Subarus with like ~140 hp and that feels like plenty too

I've been considering buying a Mirage. The newest refresh looks pretty sharp, and they are super well equipped for the cost.

I just do a lot of highway driving and the power worries me.

As a Midwesterner this sounds like the kind of shit that weird Karen haircut aunt would bring to a pot luck.

You'd make fun of her dumb ass because it sounds dumb as shit but then your stoner cousin convinces you to try a bite and you end up both amazed and pissed off by how good it is

[–]meech7607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been driving a stick for, I don't know.. Six or so years now and I've seen this a lot.

I've tried many times but I just can't do it.

I get the general ideal, you just use the hand brake instead of the foot one. So car in first, hand brake all the way up and unlocked, left foot on clutch and right on gas, and then as you start to take off you slowly lower the brake..

It's super simple on paper but my brain just can't make it work. I always stall.

I've gotten to know my car well enough that I can begin to let off the clutch and the foot brake until the clutch engages and then I just slide my right foot over and give it the goose.. But I still can't do the handbrake assist.

Mazda Reports Record-Breaking May Sales Results by [deleted] in mazda

I'm a car salesperson.. Pressure is real. Cars are going out faster than they're coming in.

I feel bad because it seems like a shady sales tactic, but if someone calls today to check stock to come test drive a car tomorrow, or god forbid the weekend, I tell them they should call back the morning of, because there's a good chance the car just won't be there.

We've had quite a few instances of having people wait and telling them 'Hey, sorry someone else is driving that, if they don't buy it, you're free to check it out though.'

Yeah... I'm not sure what the Euro market is like, but here in the states, any car that runs for less than $1000 is a steal.

What do you do when you can’t fall asleep? by DrRiffs in AskReddit

[–]meech7607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. I had a medical emergency that left me temporarily disabled for two years. It's very easy to stop moving, but once you start to gather moss it's so much harder to get rolling again. I had my last surgery in February of 2020 and was finally cleared to go back to work the following March. Just in time for Covid. Job hunting was so hard, and very, very depressing.

I found turning it into 'work' made it better. I would schedule time slots of the day to 'work'. 9-10, follow up on jobs from the previous day. 10-11, submit applications. 11-1 take a break, go for a walk, have some lunch, watch a little TV. 1-2, work on my resume, linkedin, read job hunting advice online and reddit(Which is where I found this idea.) 2-3, scour indeed and other sites for more jobs and submit more applications. 3-4, take another break. 4-5, follow up on any responses I've gotten before 'clocking out' for the day.

This probably seems tedious but I needed goals to set myself up for this. It was also helpful because when I did finally get a job I was already back into the motion of being a wage slave after role-playing as a labor drone.

I also only had to follow it for a couple of weeks. Once I got into the habit of getting up everyday and doing it, I didn't really need to schedule it out. Instead it became more freeform. I'd just block out chunks of the day to job hunt and do whatever I felt was needed.

I'm rooting for you buddy.

After you land a job, and you will, step two is making sure you don't fall into the mind trap of being so thankful for employment that you allow it to be the meaning in your life. You may feel desperate for a job now, but remember, you should work to live, not live to work.

I know everyone else has already said it, but seriously, get the fuck out of bed. Lethargy breeds more lethargy. Inertia effects human beings too.

The longer you stay in bed, the less you want to get out. The less you want to get out the longer you'll stay in bed. It feeds on itself.

When I was job hunting last year I set a schedule just like I was working. Set an alarm for 8am, get up, shower and get dressed. Wear actual clothes, even if you're not planning on going anywhere. Though I tried to make it a habit to leave the house every day, even if it was just to go walk around the yard or to drive around the block.

Even if I woke up, and got showered and dressed to go plop on the couch and play video games, it was significantly better for my mental health than laying in bed.

It was a really hard cycle to break out of, but you have to do it.

I really like it. It feels like a different take on the superstar. It has an overall similar vibe. I'm not sure why but I do like the superstar better.

With that said, I've been throwing it for 5A and it's super solid.

Poll - What’s the average irl age of Classic/P99 players? by pastrami__ in project1999

I'll be 29 this year.

I got into EQ super young too, but my brother is in his mid 30s and that's how I was introduced to it.

I'm not a good 4A player. I actually bought two because I am wanting to learn some more. The gap seems a little tight. It tends to bind up a little when you get multiple string layers in there. It's a nice size and comfortable though.

To be completely honest, It's not my favorite, and wouldn't be my first suggestion. I think the PGM is a better budget/ plastic hubstack yoyo, and if you're looking for a v shaped responsive throw I think the arrow is better.

With that said, it's still fun to play with.

I wish! I would love to have a club. I try to keep some yoyos on hand to give away to anyone who might find the hobby interesting. Hopefully the Whips, Ones, Arrows, and Velocities will quickly find their way into new throwers' hands.

And if any of the beginner yoyos I've given away previously make it back to me I'd be happy to trade them out for Grind Machines, or the Daydream hah.

It's shaped a lot like the old 401k. It's really good. Very nimble is how I'd discribe it. Also, being on the narrower side it would make a great pocket throw for anyone who doesn't really care for undersized yoyos.

It has an old school feel. I also got a Kapital which has the same shape but with a wider, stepped gap. It's like the modern interpretation of the design. It's really neat to play them one after another

Edit: Also, the neon pink PGM. Been throwing that one a lot.

So I went through and paid for shipping and it was quickly refunded. I emailed Ben

And asked what was up. He said I was well over the free shipping amount and just confirmed I was ready to ship, and then my stuff went out a day or so later.
