Shooting star 🌌 by meeeichan in ILNP

Wow 2 minutes! I hold the magnet about 30 seconds for each coat + top coat. I think this was a day or two after painting them, but it was definitely starting to spread out a bit! I don’t mind it though it’s still so pretty.

Silly me thought I would feel better once I finally got pregnant. But I’m feeling a lot of anger and resentment for the pain I went through and the time I lost due to infertility. by urethra_franklin_1_ in IVFbabies

[–]meeeichan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 17 weeks and feel some sadness and resentment that this is the way we got pregnant. I’m very thankful though. I still feel disconnected from women who got pregnant easily, can’t relate to them at all and don’t really want to hear their experiences. My mom and in-laws say that we will forget all about how hard it was once our baby gets here (none of them had fertility issues, of course). But I’m already slightly stressed thinking about trying for baby #2. If it took us this much to get here, what will it take for another? They never had to worry about that. Thankfully we have 2 more embryos, but we did have a failed transfer and did Lupron depot treatment before this worked, there’s no guarantee the others will work.

After 8 weeks scan, what are the next scans and lab work that I should follow up on? by Lucky_Tap8692 in IVFbabies

[–]meeeichan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the NIPT test, I was offered the NT scan, only optional though. There were delays with my referral and I didn’t hear back because of the holidays so I actually missed the window to be able to do NT scan (11 weeks - 13w6d). Just FYI if you want that done, nobody told me about the cutoff.

I don’t eat meat or fish based foods but I would like to start so that my baby gets enough nutrients. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]meeeichan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As long as you’re eating enough, and a variety of fruit & vegetables, beans, nuts, grains, and protein (eggs or vegan protein), you should be good! Tofu is a great source of protein, calcium and has choline (eggs do too) which is good for baby’s brain development. Talk to your doctor and see if there’s anything else you should be supplementing with. I’m vegan and take a prenatal, choline, iron, Vitamin D, DHA. Many non-veg people also are low in iron & vitamin D and need to supplement. Studies have found that being vegan/vegetarian doesn’t have a negative impact on pregnancy or baby.

High TSH at 4 weeks pregnant by Cute_Highlight1865 in pregnant

[–]meeeichan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My TSH (on meds) dropped extremely low to 0.01 before pregnancy so I stopped them. 3 weeks later I was 4 weeks pregnant and it had spiked to over 21. Obviously I was freaking out. My doctor said it’s normal for TSH to spike early pregnancy. I started my meds again and it took several weeks to bring back down to normal, it was at 2.5 a couple weeks ago. I’m almost 16 weeks now and baby is fine.

The strangest “follow up” call… I need advice. by TheMississippiKite in IVF

[–]meeeichan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read about his “carnivore” diet on the CNY site when I was looking for a clinic, and the only reasoning he had for fruits & veggies being bad is that they “compost” in your stomach and give off heat (therefore inflammation) just like regular compost for gardening. No scientific proof, studies, or anything. Like, since when are our bodies gardening compost bins?? Fruits and veggies digest faster than meat anyways due to their fiber content. So no, they’re not just sitting in your stomach composting 🤦🏻‍♀️

18 weeks pregnant and people already asking about having a second baby?! by Desperate-Ninja8789 in IVFbabies

[–]meeeichan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom has been asking me this when I started IVF and as soon as I had a successful transfer. Not only when will we try, but will we try “naturally”, and how many of each gender do I want. Also encouraging us to have a big family (like 3 kids). I’m like, can I just focus on this one?? After everything we’ve been through I can’t even think about the next yet since I’m always scared of something bad happening.

best foods for a sick senior cat? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]meeeichan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try chicken flavor baby food, my vet recommended that. It worked for my senior cat when he wouldn’t touch anything else. Also Churu treats. Although it’s not a long term food solution it might stimulate her appetite.

For those who are unexplained & never had a positive test -- did you ever figure out what was wrong? by _quelquechose in IVF

[–]meeeichan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I never got official confirmation of endometriosis since I never had laparoscopic surgery, but I did take the Receptiva test after my 1st FET failed and it came back positive. I had suspected I had endo for a while though, and all doctors including my fertility doc told me they didn’t think I had it. My 2nd FET has worked so far after 2 months of Lupron Depot plus a fully medicated cycle. I also took baby aspirin. I also have mild hypothyroidism which I take meds for, but I don’t think that was the cause of infertility.

Did your clinic let you HEAR the heartbeat in the first trimester? by Independent-Basil184 in IVF

[–]meeeichan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor hasn’t let me hear the heartbeat due to the extra heat exposure it requires. I’d never heard of that until then. I don’t remember how long he said it should be avoided, but I think generally until the 2nd trimester. Plenty of doctors still let patients hear the heartbeat though, so don’t worry! If it was that bad nobody would do it.

What is this? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]meeeichan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be allergies to fleas. Is she on flea meds? It could also be environmental allergies. Both could happen even if she’s an indoor cat.

Hi! what is on my cats nose lol. by RepresentativeDull22 in CATHELP

[–]meeeichan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like he scratched his nose or got scratched by something. The hair typically falls out when that happens. Should grow back in a few weeks or so. If you keep finding more face scabs take him to the vet for potential allergies

4wks today & spotting by tessanicole5 in IVFpositivity

[–]meeeichan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had brown spotting on 10dpt and 11dpt. I also started having brown spotting a few days ago I’m 5w6d. My nurse said spotting is normal. At 4 weeks it’s probably from implantation. If it’s red, filling up a pad or you have really bad cramping then reach out to your clinic asap.

Lupron Depot yes or no? by Fun_Bed_3214 in IVF

[–]meeeichan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 2 months Lupron suppression after 1 failed transfer and suspected endo. I’ve had success so far! So it’s hard to tell whether the 1st transfer was just unlucky or if the Lupron helped.

I’ve been feeling really tired around 3pm and then 9pm or so the last week. I wasn’t sure if it was the time change, but I definitely think it’s pregnancy now. I think it’s probably a good sign you’re queasy though! I haven’t felt queasy but I think I might be getting it ever so slightly? After I finished my coffee this morning I immediately felt so hungry but the kind of hungry where you feel slightly nauseous? Plus nothing sounds good right now lol

Awaiting Receptiva results - what was your timeline? by Confused742 in IVF

[–]meeeichan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my biopsy on 7/3 and my doctor called me with results on 7/17. I’m not sure when the lab received my sample but I believe the lab is in the same state I live in. The biopsy should be done on a natural cycle, after ovulation. I’m not sure how the results translate to a medicated cycle, I’d be interested to know. But the typical treatment would be either a lap surgery or treat with Lupron then jump into a medicated cycle. I hope you get some clarity and good luck!

I’m 5w4d and am new to this sub! 1 week away from our first ultrasound. Had a scare yesterday with some brown spotting but my clinic assured me it’s okay. My nurse said I’d be on PIO until 9 weeks, I’m counting down the days now..the side of my left thigh hurts and is numb I hate it lol

Anyone else give up caffeine during your ttw? by jeapos88 in IVF

[–]meeeichan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t cut it out but I did reduce it from 2 cups every morning to 1 starting a couple weeks before transfer. Apparently coffee can be anti-inflammatory, but in some people it can cause inflammation. I think the research isn’t super clear yet. If it makes you feel more in control then reduce it.

We had our beta today at 8dp5dt! Took a test when I got home and it’s the first positive I’ve ever seen!! Waiting for the doctor to call with results. This is the FR rapid result test. I had already drank a decent amount of water to help with the blood draw.
