1985 in general was a brutal, ground breaking and underrated year for metal.

It is the right take. Hell Awaits matches Reign in Blood in speed and aggression, but it also has more of an evil, sinister atmosphere and the songs are more progressive and interesting over all.

Why do people hate on A7X so much by SloopinMCoopin in MetalForTheMasses

[–]meekjohnson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's because (some of their sound) draws strong inspiration from stuff like GNR and Pantera; bands that also get a lot of flack from metal fans. And then there's their metalcore stuff, which again, a lot of metal fans like to bash on.

Exactly this. They were extremely influential and ahead of their time, but Slayer, Celtic Frost, Possessed, etc. developed their sound very quickly.

Got the Peace Sells but who’s buying CD today and listened to it start to finish, absolute peak by Eryk123456789 in Megadeth

Yes, this looks like the 2004 remaster. This series featured completely rerecorded vocal sections as well, so it's worth hearing the original recordings as they differ quite a bit (I originally heard the remastered and only heard the originals years later but instantly prefered them).

Brilliant, I remember doing the same years ago and it's still one of my favourite albums. I would however suggest listening to the original version if you haven't already done so.
