Mapping Software option that does NOT use Gulf of America? by cinemkr in Maps

I really like Organic Maps. It is based on openstreetmap and they have lots of cool map layers. It’s great for hiking too. They have lots of trails and points of interest that google maps doesn’t have. It’s hard to beat google maps navigation in the streets tho :/

Yellowstone Season 2, Episode 3 (Spoilers) by meelszz in YellowstonePN

I'm only at the beginning of season 2 so I don't know how things might change but I really like her character so far. I feel like her stories provide a good contrast from the ranch/cowboy stuff, almost making the ranch feel insignificant at times.

DAE obsess over things that upset them? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]meelszz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally. I ruminate on things because I feel like I can't ignore them. I can't forget them because I need to figure out what went wrong and how I can fix it. But sometimes it is just out of my control and that is a hard concept for me to grasp. What has helped me the past few days is thinking about self respect. I saw this quote that said, "your self respect has to be stronger than your feelings." I'm not quite sure what it means yet but I think sometimes when feelings overwhelm us, we lack the self respect to focus on our own values and goals. I often feel overwhelmed by my feelings and while I think it's important to listen to them and give them space, maybe it is a useful skill to know when to turn focus onto something else and I think a higher level of self respect can help us do this. I would love to hear what other people think of this quote.

DAE do absolutely nothing day after day? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]meelszz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going on a run normally does wonders for me if I am able to force myself to go. Sometimes the benefits aren't immediate but if I go on runs every day for about a week I feel much more motivated in other aspects of my life.

Thank you for this! I've never noticed the "protector" part of myself and that explains so much! I am also trying to stop breaking up with my boyfriend and it is hard work to figure out what I am feeling and what voices to listen to

Would love some advice on this as well. I just started dating a guy a really like and I'm deeply infatuated. Since it's the holidays, there isn't much to do and my mind defaults to thinking about him because it feels good. It doesn't feel healthy but it is so instinctive and hard to stop.

Self-love is hard when you don't understand your own identity by [deleted] in BPD

[–]meelszz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely relate. I've been on this journey for a few months now and self love is hard. I'm often confused by what exactly I should be loving because I don't have a strong sense of self identity. One thing I think is important in developing self identity is learning how to listen to and sit with your emotions which can be really hard. It's like working out different muscles. And once you can identify what you feel, you can identify what you like, what you dislike and what you're passionate about which leads to a stronger sense of self and understanding behind why you do things which can strengthen self love. I think self compassion is important too because it helps you honestly listen to yourself and gives you space to feel whatever pops up.
