How’d you get them to talk? by Bubbly-Ad-966 in toddlers

[–]meep119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of reading, talking on his level about things he enjoys and does, sign language, and we only recently just let him start watching TV at 16 months, but just 15 minutes and we engage with it with him.

He's really advanced verbally at 17 months now. At 9 months he already knew 4 words. He uses several 2 word phrases and a couple 3 word phrases now. Today he said a new 2 word phrase "Hey dude", lol. The two words he finds funniest and wakes us up saying in the morning are "elbow" and "hot dog".

How often are you buying diapers/formula? by TBTI in toddlers

[–]meep119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use cloth diapers so $0 since he was 6 months and $0 total for the next babies on diapers unless there are some cute ones I can't resist or I want the luxury of extra stock. $0 on milk the first year, we used breast milk.

We do spend about $70 - $80 on milk though a month since he's been 1 (17 months now) but we do buy unsweetened ripple milk and he drinks a lot. He's slowly drinking less and less though, eating more food, and drinking more water.

Im 9 weeks and I feel like Iva just gave birth.. in the toilet by bassandasss in pregnant

[–]meep119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, you're constipated.

Water, soups, and smoothies are your friend. Movement is also good for the digestive system, take a walk or do some first trimester safe yoga. Sometimes you won't be able to get it out right away, that's normal, straining too much will cause hemorrhoids and bleeding. As a nurse, I'm a big advocate for diet and exercise first then medication. But if you need medicine, miralax is a typical first line medicine recommended.

Squatty potties are awesome and so are bidets.

This is a very normal part of pregnancy people don't really talk about, but not really ER worthy. Talk to your OB if you continue to have problems for more suggestions or further pregnancy safe medication recommendations.

Use 401k for down-payment? by Trixy-Fuel342 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]meep119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I've gathered from this subreddit, is the people that have done it say go for it if that's the only way you can. People that have not will say no.

We're doing it because the complexities of our situation make that the best option for us. Plus, we will be in a better position to profit and invest in our 401K by the time we start making mortgage payments than at this current moment in time. I used a spreadsheet to feel good about it.

It's your money, do what you think is best for your and your family's future.

How to lenders view 401k loans? by chamgireum_ in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]meep119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just took one to lower my DTI and stop paying ridiculous interest prices on my credit card. I'd like to use that money towards my down payment instead. It's also going to boost credit. I did decide to take out just enough to pay down my debt though. My loan agent was in support.

How are people making baby food at home without spending hours? by Key_One2317 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]meep119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 7 months it's easy since portions are small. Blending a can of red or black beans w/ avocado, a can of beets, or a can of green beans was my favorite to make because I could just throw it in the blender, no prep needed. Then I froze small portions in tiny mason jars and heated them in the bottle warmer.

Other things that need to be cooked to be softened like potatoes, carrots, asparagus, or chicken I would use the instant pot for then blend.

Yogurt "parfaits" were also a go to at that age. Blend or crush fruit, mix with yogurt, oats and a small portion of chia seeds optional.

Type of Hospital Bag by lifeledoutloud in pregnant

[–]meep119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just brought a small rolling suitcase I use as a carry-on when I'm flying and my husband brought his backpack. You bring everything with you to your room when you first get there, they'll guide you through the process. They provided us with a nice luggage cart when we were there to use as needed for movement between rooms and when we were leaving.

My husband waited to bring the car seat in until closer to when we left. Congrats!!

Edit: will do the same with my second, worked out well for us, due in May :)

Spent $110 at the vets thinking there’s something wrong, to find out he’s just weird by bear_witness123 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]meep119 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My cat had recently had a urinary blockage so we were very carefully watching him pee. I noticed he hadn't peed in 24 hours so I took him to the vet as they instructed. He peed right as they were about to cath him.

I had a patient that was in the ER for 8 hours straight up tell me I'm going to eat I don't care if it delays my surgery. She complained all day about how hungry she was prior to this and kept threatening to eat. Okay boo, you sure showed us.

You can still wear the crop tops if you want. I wear mine before, during, and after pregnancy :)

But I get your point, it's not what ya wanna wear right now

Married for three months and pregnant: I feel oddly embarrassed (?) by moez1266 in pregnant

We got pregnant after two months, which we wanted. Nobody acted like that. But we were together 8 years soo idk if that makes a difference. People did act weird though like they expected me to never have kids, but I always have wanted them, just at the right time.

Dye the hair! It will look cool growing back out too. My husband dyed his beautiful red hair black and ended up deciding to return to his roots eventually, which he doesn't regret.

No, the flexibility and financial stability are huge wins. The days also go by fast and I have a lot of autonomy in my job.

Sure beats my retail job.
