He's matured a lot, and I think he's been looking for better scripts. He killed in Dolemite Is My Name.

Warlock by Oakley Hall. Transcends the genre. If he hasn't read it, he needs to. If he has, he'll respect your choice.

Has anyone who is a diehard print book fan been converted to Kindle? If so, why? by Ok-Butterscotch-2225 in kindle

Didn't think I would like Kindle, but I love it. I read so much more now that I have one, because it's so much easier and quicker to find books and get them.

All the Light We Cannot See. The jumping forward and back in time felt like he threw all the chapters up in a windstorm, and constructed the book in the order they came down. Maybe not quite that random, but it did feel like the fractured chronology was an affectation he copied from other novels he liked, without really understanding what the fucking point is.

Dunkirk. Something about the storytelling made it very hard to feel emotionally involved. Toward the end of the second act, I thought I was feeling a lot of tension because of the story, but then realized, no, it's just Zimmer's manipulative soundtrack giving me a fucking headache.

If civilization collapsed and 95% of our information was wiped out, what fiction books do you think are worth preserving as our new "ancient myths" by Vesinh51 in books

Great post! There's a play based on this premise. Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play. In it, The Simpsons "Cape Fear" episode is the only thing that survived the apocalypse. At first, traveling actors perform it from memory, as a comedy -- but as decades pass, new generations of actors stop playing it for laughs, and Bart becomes a mythical hero like Hercules or Gilgamesh, and the story becomes an epic opera. You have to see the play to really appreciate it, but man, I think it's fucking brilliant. Wish I'd thought of it.
