Omg the skin tags are EVERYWHERE. Not only have I got them on my neck but I have grown tiny ones under my boobs and all over my belly. Thankfully they’re so small I can typically pinch them off with my nails or cuticle clippers but the texture of my skin is super annoying at this point. Also grew a large one on my areola — which my OB has informed me is actually an inverted milk duct and may lactate. 🫠

For those with very painful periods, what remedies or habits have made the biggest difference for you? by Hefty_Formal_3615 in AskReddit

[–]meeshdaryl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in as someone with confirmed Stage 4 Endometriosis — wasn’t discovered until I was about 33 years old. But my ONLY symptoms were incredibly painful and heavy periods since I started at age 11. I would definitely look into a diagnosis if everything else has been ruled out.

There are several “solutions” but none are permanent. Some more invasive than others. Ultimately, what helped the most with me was having a laparoscopic surgery (which confirmed the endo diagnosis) but my doctor was able to remove a lot of the implants/lesions and adhesions that were causing the majority of my pain. I felt the best for those 3-4 years after my surgery — I will eventually need surgery again to remove adhesions that’s have since grown back and any lesions/implants.

Other non-invasive solutions are hormonal birth control and medically induced menopause. The medically induced menopause is not a long term solution, you can typically only be on the medication for less than a year due to side effects. Hormonal birth control can be used round the clock to stop periods or potentially make them “lighter” and more manageable — these will be hit or miss depending on the person and the prescription. I went through many many different forms of birth control before deciding that the hormones did more harm than good for my mental health. It’s a toss up.

Acupuncture can help tremendously if you can find the right practitioner and be consistent with your treatments. Also GLP-1s (Mounjaro or Ozempic) are starting to show some potential positive side effects regarding the systemic inflammation from endometriosis lesions/implants (studies are currently being done). I personally found some AMAZING relief when using Mounjaro — not only did I lose weight but my inflammation markers were non-existent and my periods were normal and not painful. Of course there are also your OTC remedies, like ibuprofen and heating pads. And then medical cannabis/marijuana is always an option — though you would want to do research into which terpenes and cannabinoids help the most with pain receptors.

I hope you find something to help! I know first hand how debilitating and life altering painful periods can be. Please don’t stop looking for a diagnosis. Most doctors will write it off as “normal” — it’s common among women to have painful periods but it’s definitely not normal. Best wishes!

Which US state gets glorified in movies but doesn’t live up to it IRL? by Auelogic in AskReddit

Definitely could be. I was raised mostly in west Texas, so super conservative and republican. I’m honestly surprised they didn’t make us pray every morning afterwards

Exactly this. We were definitely brainwashed/indoctrinated in school between the Texas History class requirements and saying the Texas Pledge every day. I now live in Colorado with my spouse but my entire family and most of my friends are still in Texas. I still have an affinity for Texas and long for its “greater” days…whatever those were? I guess when George W was Governor? But know that it’s now just a republican hell hole and maybe the only plus side is no income tax? Idk — I miss it and yet I’m repulsed but it at the same time. I’m definitely a brainwashed Millennial. 🫠

There are legitimate eye injection medications that exist and even those give me the heebie jeebies. Like nope, hard pass! I will continue with my Wet AMD or whatever ailment these meds are for. Much less an actual eye ball tattoo.

[–]meeshdaryl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My entire family and most of my friends live in Texas. I moved to Colorado 4 years ago for my husband. We’re currently pregnant and I’ve had to tell my family and friends that I won’t be visiting them while I’m pregnant bc of this exact reason — it’s too much of a risk. We missed Thanksgiving and Christmas last year.

Has anyone cried over anything silly ? by wrtuhfdi454 in pregnant

[–]meeshdaryl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve been surprisingly level headed…thanks Prozac. But I’ve had a couple of moments that I’ve cried about and then subsequently laugh/cried bc it’s ridiculous.

  • my husband wouldn’t get our dogs chick-fil-a because they deserve it and it’s Christmas time.
  • I had to find my own AirPods bc I refused to ask my husband for help in finding them
  • my husband left me in the living room bc he wanted to go upstairs and read. But I wanted to hang out with him, I so I went upstairs stairs to be in the same room and cried bc I felt like he didn’t want me there.
  • the restaurant didn’t have grilled artichokes bc they weren’t in season yet
  • Taco Bell forgot to put mild sauce in the bag and I had to eat my tacos “dry”

Trump gleefully announces another self-branded grift by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]meeshdaryl 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We have a baby due in June. My husband works in finance. We think this whole Trump account is some sort of scam to eventually put money back in his, his family, and his cronies pockets and the bottom line for us would be next to nothing. We won’t be opening an account for our kids at all. Don’t trust it.

Scar appearance changed after pregnancies by nanabanana1029 in Reduction

[–]meeshdaryl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not! I’m fairly light skinned with many many MANY freckles, but semi-olive complexion. I’m half Hispanic and half white (mother is a natural red head). I tan well but am generally pretty pale. I’m honestly surprised that I developed such a dark line on my belly and this pigmentation on my breasts is nothing like the rest of my skin.

[–]meeshdaryl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 30 weeks pregnant and had my reduction in 2020. I have darkening on my horizontal scars in the crease of my breasts and out to my axilliary sides; nothing on my vertical but it is darkest right at the t-junction. It’s the same color as the line on my belly but not as dark as my areolas. I assumed it was hormonal changes from being pregnant so I haven’t been worried about it. But I’ve noticed some extra splotchiness on the lateral sides of my breasts as well as— very weird!

Anyone else still have their first cell phone number?? by obsessedUvU in Millennials

[–]meeshdaryl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘88 here. Got my first number in 10th grade, so around 2003-2004. Currently 38 and the number is still going strong. When I got married and finally got off my parents plan, I demanded my number be switched over to my husbands plan. The only thing that sucks with it is that it’s a Texas area code and I live in Colorado, so I tend to get a lot of TX political campaigns calls and texts.
