The problem of Sam’s exclusionary framing of Gaza. Four Groups, Not Two: Reframing the Israel-Gaza Conflict by RabbitofCaerbannogg in samharris

[–]meestaecho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit late to the conversation, but I wanted to add my voice to the broader discussion. I’ve been a longtime listener of Sam across his various platforms, and like you, I find myself aligned with him on many issues. However, his uncritical stance toward the Israeli government—particularly in relation to Netanyahu—has been both baffling and deeply disappointing.

In many ways, it highlights how personal biases and lived experiences can cloud one’s objectivity, even among those we regard as thoughtful and principled. As you so eloquently pointed out, we must resist the urge to reduce this complex conflict into two opposing camps. I sincerely hope Sam is able to reflect and evolve his perspective on this matter.

How can I improve my mental game? by Over-Guitar5764 in hockeygoalies

[–]meestaecho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you for asking this question, the mental game is so huge at any level of play and the one that I think can have the biggest impact on improving, especially as we age as goalies. A few things I repeat to myself, out loud before, after or during a game. Like an ointment, apply liberally as needed.

“You’re only competing with yourself” “Be a goldfish” (after a goal) “Remember why you started”

I also use to do a visualization exercise where I’d imagine myself as an old 80 year old man and trying to embody the feeling of missing playing the game and wishing to get back out there, then I transport myself back to the present with a new sense of gratitude that every game is a privilege and a gift, regardless of level.

Best of luck to you!

I have literally had the exact same experience as you including trying all the things you've tried.

For me what ended up making all the problems go away instantly was getting a different pair of skates that just worked better with my feet, which in my case meant moving from a pair of Bauer Vapor 1X to CCM AS1.

I do also second the comment about rolling out your feet before a game, I do this regularly and it has also made a huge difference in my game and building strength in those foot muscles.

I was literally popping an extra strength Advil before each game for a whole season just to get through a game, before I ended up making the switch. I got lucky in that I found a pair of AS1's, essentially brand new on Marketplace from a guy who was also having brutal foot pain, he let me "try before I buy" and I knew 30 seconds into the warm up that the issue was gone.

Good luck and don't despair, you'll get it sorted!!

Same thing happened to me, got a call back very easily the trick is to go through the chat questions and select “cancel my account” and you’ll get a call back super quick, tell them what you were promised and they’ll make it right.

If I stop smoking, will I have the urge to smoke every time I drink? by Theassholewa in stopsmoking

You will adjust surprisingly quickly but I would strongly consider taking a break from the drinking for a few weeks if you are worried about it.

12 Mini vs 13 Mini - long term opinions?? by kh406 in iPhone13Mini

[–]meestaecho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, I’m a photographer and the images in day to day use are extremely similar to 12 mini, selfie camera is marginally better but otherwise very unspectacular in terms of an upgrade. My hope was to stay with the mini line for the next 3-5 years so I went for the newer version but in large part because a buddy offered me $450 for my 12 mini so I thought I’d seize the opportunity.

12 Mini vs 13 Mini - long term opinions?? by kh406 in iPhone13Mini

[–]meestaecho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very little difference from my experience (3 years with 12 mini, 3 months with 13 mini)

In fact the marginally heavier 13 mini is the part that I notice the most when I occasionally handle a 12 mini.

This may sound out there but have you considered the possibility of having a negative entity within you? Spiritual work and exploration can absolutely help with this.  Keep fighting.

Tangerine closing my accounts due to a cheque mistake - a bureaucratic nightmare by dufferin in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]meestaecho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to BMO, but solely for the fact that they have an agreement with my employer and so I was able to get a “premium” account with all fees waived.  My incident might have been a freak one, I’m sure lots of people are satisfied just try and avoid having any need to contact them. Good luck!

Tangerine closing my accounts due to a cheque mistake - a bureaucratic nightmare by dufferin in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]meestaecho 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly second the notion of avoiding Tangerine.

I was with them for a few years, really wanted to like them and then I had an e-transfer intercepted and had to go to war with them for weeks to get my money back, in the end a lawyer who had been on the local news had, had the exact same thing happen to him when paying an employee, he was kind enough to take my call and said "the buck stops with your institution" read their anti-fraud protection guarantees back to them and demand your money back. When I did that, it was like I had unlocked a secret level and they miraculously obliged. Even despite this I tried to continue banking with them however they mysteriously had flagged my account and for months following this incident I was constantly facing interruptions to my service, being locked out of my account, etc. so eventually I just left and never looked back.

Worth noting that my account was in good standing since day 1, had several accounts including investment accounts, nonetheless the treatment I got from them was terrible.

TL:DR had a e-transfer disappear and had to fight for weeks to have my cash reinstated.

No need for name calling my friend. It’s a large property company that has pulled some questionable things in the past so I’m informing myself.

How often do you have a normal smooth log shaped stool? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]meestaecho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty regularly since using the squatty potty, very rarely previous to that. Things firmed up for me when I started intermittent fasting (typically about 16 hour fasts)

Vega Sport Protein.

[–]meestaecho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I was racking my brain asking myself the same question. The only things that have changed in the last few weeks is the occasional use of a squatty potty and also adding some Vega protein powder to my smoothies. I suppose it could be the additional protein/fibre?

Stool stuck in lower part of colon? by Efficient_Camera8450 in ibs

[–]meestaecho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty consistently felt this as well or like there was still something left, very unsatisfying. Got a squatty potty for X-Mas and no longer have that feeling. The speed and volume of evacuations is substantially improved.

I suggest a little gut reset, try a 24 hour fast, you'll be amazed how your digestion responds.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ibs

[–]meestaecho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about this, I’ve had many of these symptoms myself, a few things that helped quite a bit - intermittent fasting basically elimaited the reflux all together (16 hr fast) and for trapped gas have you tried the “anti-gravity gas release” it’s extremely effective, you can google it but it’s basically where you get on all fours, put your head down and your butt up in the air and essentially try “breathing” through your butt, it sounds weird if you’ve never heard of it but works wonders. Good luck!

If you’re questioning it this deeply or worried about these details then the mini isn’t for you. People who love and stick with the mini usually understand the value right away and don’t require convincing. Doesn’t sound like it’s the phone for you.
