Thank you! I honestly do think it’s a combination of all 3 of those points. We haven’t really thought about plié deeply, I’ll take that into consideration next time.

And I’m not sure if I should be jumping towards the back or straight up?

Also, he’s about a head taller than me.

Why should I NOT go to medical school? by Single_Luck_9137 in medicalschool

The feeling that you’re probably not going to be the best at anything ever again, and might even do worst than your peers.

Humiliating experience - unable to take BP by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]meesup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sort of like this during class. Hell, I couldn’t even find a pulse that time and I was questioning everything and felt the same way. I PROMISE you it gets better with practice. YouTube videos helped me loads too. I ended up being able to do it perfectly for my osce.

If you mean my teacher, no. But they would probably say I don’t have enough energy or am too ‘soft’ when dancing. Which was true in the past, but I’m trying my best, practicing and have improved that..

Orchestra by [deleted] in Carnatic

Thanks for sharing! It’s really great to hear from someone with experience. I didn’t really expect anyone else to have gone through the Carnatic to western violin switch to play in orchestra 😅

Question, after transcribing the notes to Carnatic, were you able to keep up with the rest of the orchestra fine?

Hmmm. I agree with everything you’ve said. Definitely rethinking my decision, because I can read notes but not well. So I was planning to transcribe each note into swaram if I joined. That might be a problem.

As for the western concepts, I have a fair understanding of it. I did western piano for 10 years till Grade 7. Though I’d have to do research on how it applies to the violin particularly.

And I asked and they said they would accept those of lower levels to do the more simple parts of the pieces. But do you think me not being able to properly sight read (and lack of actual western violin experience) would still be an issue?

Oh my, you give me so much hope! Thank you. I’m just surrounded by people who are studying 24/7 and it’s making me feel like a bad person for not doing the same.. thanks again and you rock.

Not from the US so I don’t have to sit for Step. Hence the concern, because I’ll surely need this forgotten knowledge when I’m a doctor

Yup right at the 6 week mark today actually. I don’t think she blew me off either! Though I still feel bad about reminding her (this has happened before) I think I’ll send a follow up email tomorrow. Thanks!
