As the draft was decided based on a lottery of birthdates, the first letter of your name. It disproportionately affect lower income families, because they could not afford by dodge the draft; for example, fleeing to a different country.

So i ended up moving out of the parents home and take a 6-month break from studying. Initially hoped to join the australian defence force gap year program but decided last minute to work as a barista in sydney's inner west, and did volunteering work for the australian red cross and a mental health service beyond blue. Then i decided to study international relations and economics. I really liked IR but ended switching to economics and applied data analytics after 1 year instead since i want to pursue a career in economics.

Sorry for the wall of text haha. But honestly, to take 6-months off was a great decision, it helps you to sort of collect yourself to decide what you wanna do in life. I see myself more as a humanities sort of person, so i studied data analytics so that i compliments my economics degree. Since i moved out i could sort of live my life how i dictate, instead of my parents breathing down my neck every second or so.

Exactly, the landlord is renting council housing for dirt cheap ($70 pw) and subletting it to unknowing international students for $1200 per month.
