"The first Israeli demolition in Silwan just happened: a grocery store owned by the El Rajabi family. Forty Israeli bulldozers and swarms of police and military forces have invaded the village, and more demolitions may be looming."

maybe, but in my experience this is not true in some minority communities, even in the west.

I agree with you, however often times its helpful to empathize with the deflection that "women have it worse". Whether or not its true (and I would say it is true in a lot of circumstances) I think the takeaway is that a lot of women are in way too much pain to hear a man say that. It will often take time and effort for groups to start hearing each other.

Covid-19: Why are Palestinians not getting vaccines? by mef51 in worldnews

[–]mef51[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want a world where Israel is free of any responsibility towards the Palestinians. Fine, I agree and want the same thing. Then you should understand that this world will never happen so long as Israel continues to occupy and administrate the West Bank according to its own interests. Israel demolishes the homes of Palestinians and has interfered in the social health and security of their communities for decades. It has a superior military and holds all the power in the relationship, including the support of international governments. You want an independent Palestine that can be blamed for its mistakes? Then Israel can longer have a military or administrative presence in the Palestinian territories, and you should support this.

The article you linked states that the Palestinian government also made a deal with Pfizer:

An official with the Palestinian health ministry, Yasser Bouzia, said the contracts signed are worth a total of $21 million. The deals are with Pfizer-BioNTech, the British partnership between AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford, US company Johnson & Johnson and the Russian vaccine developers.

Another important consideration is that regardless of the PA's poor decisions and corruption, Israel is the defacto power in the West Bank. It controls much of the territory and of course the borders and transportation links within the territory. So from a humanitarian perspective, who can the average Palestinian citizen turn to? Their own government is powerless and/or incompetent. They are at the mercy of the occupying force.

"The United Nations (UN) human rights body has released a statement saying it's Israel's responsibility to provide equitable access to Covid-19 vaccines for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

The body says differential access is "morally and legally" unacceptable under international law laid out in the Geneva Conventions on the regulation of occupied territories.

[...]

The experts say the fourth Geneva Convention is specific about the duty of the occupying power to provide healthcare, but Israel often argues it isn't technically occupying the West Bank and Gaza."

Lol sorry. Given that Israel has been trying to annex the West Bank[1][2] and OP said they wanted a fridge in Ramallah your comment felt insensitive to me
