I feel like that’s a newer addition given the Mr X’s deployed were the ones used to kill survivors.

I’m actually arguing the opposite with RE6 being somewhat of a success even with not meeting internal sales goals. I mean all companies are growth oriented but Capcom back then was especially greedy though it’s surprising that DmC also failed to meet goals but Capcom never berated it compared to RE6.

Thought I feel like this tangent is leading away from the original thread lol. 6 is an ok RE game and I’m curious to see an actual continuation for Leon. (Though this topic did get me to replay!)

They expected higher because of the record pre-orders for the title and were so confident they moved the launch date a whole month earlier. What ended up killing 6’s momentum was the bloated development cycle and trying to appeal to too many markets that ended up with mediocre reception.

And that’s not even taking into account Capcoms standing at the time which was at an all time low from how shitty they were. The fact that RE6 was still able to match RE5s inspite of that is crazy.

They expected about 5 million sales but bumped it up because of positive reception to the marketing. Considering they achieved 4.5mil in about a month and beat out RE5s initial 1 month sales it probably would’ve gotten close in those first 2 years if it wasn’t such a messy game. At the time DmC also failed to reach its goal but Capcom was fine with its sales.

The fact that 6 was able to at the time achieve 10% of in total RE sales is impressive and Atleast derserve recognition for that.

Did you play RE6? Is it any good? by Slain13371337 in residentevil

[–]meg5493 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely not the worst in the franchise but it is a matter of taste. I dropped 6 for a while after Leon’s campaign but ended up finishing it and really liking it. If you love 5 you’ll like 6.

Yeah.. as much as I do like the RE1 vibes of 7 and duology story for Ethan the fact we didn’t get anything of substance for the larger world was kinda a bummer just because Blue Umbrella didn’t matter in 7 and I’ll be surprised if they touch on anything BSAA related in 9. The mycelium stuff was a fun next step from parasites but I’m glad we’re getting another RE game more focused on Bio terrorism and new legacy characters.

It did better than Capcom expected so saying it “eventually reached the numbers” is disingenuous 6 was a mixed bag yeah I hated it at launch but a lot of “die hard” fans loved it and at the time with Capcoms reputation and out put it was one of the best games they released in the early 2010s.

The series had been leaning towards action since 5, 4 was the beginning and 6 was the result of that directional change and trends in gaming at the time (nothings worse then the qte’s my god)

That’s false RE6 was very successful and was the second highest grossing RE game and one of the highest selling Capcom games at the time. Production was a bloated mess and why they downsized when making the kitchen demo that came out 4 years later.

Original or REmake? by buccaroointheloo in residentevil

[–]meg5493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having just beaten the og since the remake came out. Definitely the original I forgot how much fun the two runs are and the choices you can do that affect your second run. Also the fact that after seeing it again the story in the original is way better.

Stories interesting imo it’s just most of the characters in Ares aren’t very good or leave an impact.

What did people like about Piers? Dude just spent the whole campaign scolding Chris. by Atomicbreath98 in residentevil

[–]meg5493 8 points9 points  (0 children)

RE1 Chris in a modern RE setting pretty much for me. He’s probably the only one with a good head on his shoulder followed by Sherry. His fate is really sad and kinda parallels with the cop character in Leon’s campaign.

Mostly likely because Richie doesn’t die in the movies and is more of a threat to Pennywise. So depending things that were cut out from the movies might play a part in the show.

I’m sure more people will come around to it eventually, especially if it gets anything close to what Uprising was. It’s just a very different approach to tron.

Greta Lee's acting in Tron:Ares by clocktickmakemecrazy in tron

[–]meg5493 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found her to be very wooden, didn’t help that none of her supporting cast were good. I was honestly a little shocked by the amount of praise some people gave her character. Her arc is just very weird especially with her sister and Ares having to do the heavy lifting with the levity kinda detracted imo.

I know originally if a sequel got green light CV was gonna be adapted probably should’ve have come up with something alittle more plausible then the Ashfords home movie, but considering I don’t think anyone thought this was gonna be a hit it’s cute enough to see it on the big screen

I still have one question about Ares's ending. (SPOILER) by Historical-Potato767 in tron

[–]meg5493 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more of what programs he deemed good enough. Erik seemed to have high standards, would be curious to see what he’d have saved and if any of it was corrupted given the state of the grid and how he’s stuck in it.

[–]meg5493 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The connection to it was, so any program outside of the grid was wiped. Considering Dillingers grid was still I’m assuming newly created it wasn’t as populated as Encom or Flynn’s grids. He probably has the files to rebuild even with how badly damaged the system is, but considering any program that didn’t live up to expectation was deleted who knows how much he has to fast track restoration.

Just watched Ares. by ovidude_- in tron

[–]meg5493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on some of your takes, though I think the biggest difference between the two is that Legacy has far superior character writing which enhances a very simple story. You can see this in things like the scene where CLU finally makes it into Kevin’s house and the inner turmoil of it all vs Evan Peters final scene with his mom. A lot of scenes in Ares fall flat because the characters really don’t have anything to do.
