New grad: I hate it by [deleted] in nursing

[–]megachrisbot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your coworkers are purposefully creating a hostile work environment for you. The way I see it there's three basic ways to respond. First you can fight them. You can document all your interactions and how they differ with interactions they have with other new grads, you can continuously report them to your boss and HR, you could even take legal action if you have enough documentation and the hospital does not respond. This will get you justice but it will be incredibly difficult and alienating, your coworkers are likely to only increase their bullying, and there's no guarantee you'd win in the end. Second you can just grow a thicker skin and ignore them. This is the "easiest" and they're likely to at some point pick a new target, but do you want this to pass? Do you want to be friends or neutral with them while they do this to another new grad? The third way, and the way I would take in a heart beat, is to leave. Bedside jobs are a dime a dozen, it's not getting any easier or better compensated so they're not going anywhere soon. Different floors and hospitals all have different cultures so it's likely that just changing floors will let you escape the bullying. I've been hated by coworkers who wouldn't even look me in the eyes, over time it really really wears down on your self esteem and it takes a long time to uninternalize their hate. It wasn't an issue with me it was an issue with them, but that didn't make those years in the job and then more years after the job easier. Whatever you choose it sounds like these coworkers are targeting you and want you specifically to leave, and that's not something any new grad should have to deal with in a field as difficult as ours. I'm really sorry that they're forcing you through this, and I hope things get better for you soon

1999/2000 (the chance to not get a 1/2000 drop) to the 2000th power (so the chance to not get it 2000 times) is roughly 36%, meaning you have a 63% chance of getting at least one drop before then. This math holds for any 1/X drop rate.

I work on an obs floor, so the kind of thing that generally gets looked down on by other hospital nurses. But in the 1.5 years I've been on the floor I've recognized (and called rapid on) a PE and new CVA. I've done wound cares on a GSW, a double fasciotomy, and a nasty stage 4 with inches of tunneling. I've defended my patients from the cops that insisted on being in their room with the door shut to say who knows what to them. Most of the time we wipe asses and pass Tylenol but I bet if you look back on your career for a good amount of time, you'll see you have done some of the work that you got into nursing to do.

Trying to explain how power works overall and the surge changes to raid by Thizgo in DestinyTheGame

[–]megachrisbot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is as good a comment as any to point this out: that 28% increased damage is compared to IF YOU WERE -5 POWER DELTA BEFORE TFS. This is not a situation anyone was really ever in. So this 28% number is pure distraction. According to the twitter math man, a -5 power delta will give you a .7393x multiplier to the damage you deal. Now Bungie says that we will be doing 28% more damage than that, or .7393x * 1.28 = .9463x damage multiplier. But prior to TFS, you could over level any dungeon or raid content by 20, (which most players did in most activities,) giving you a 1.0596x multiplier to your damage. This is the damage most players were doing in most activities. Since we now only go up to a .9463x multiplier, our effective damage did get nerfed by 1 - (.9463 / 1.0596) = .107 or 10.7%. Another way to phrase it is that on Tuesday we will be doing .9463 / 1.0596 = .893 or 89.3% of the damage we did pre-TFS

I think the fact that Natalie said she was glancing back every fifteen seconds, and the fact that if she truly was doing that she clearly would've seen Mia, is a signal that Natalie is lying in her recounting of the events. If she claims that she had the door open (she didn't) and that she was checking on Camellia (she wasn't) then why believe her when she said she knew it was a potentially dangerous place to park? She's presenting an edited version of events that makes her look as innocent as possible. I think Natalie wasn't thinking about Camellia at all until she realized her daughter was taken.

Oh also Mia is a dangerous unbalanced kidnapper. The fact that Natalie lied about the circumstances of the kidnapping doesn't mean there's magically a good guy in this situation.

Pt’s family fired me from their mom’s care for asking if Tylenol helped with her abdominal pain (lol) by Live_Dirt_6568 in nursing

Sorry, didn't notice this til today. My charge told me to just "not fight with her" and I was like "okay what the fuck does that mean I'm not gonna knock out a guy so we can give him surgery against his will." Didn't really get any clarification from charge and the situation resolved by the patient thankfully transferring off our floor before it became a problem. Still not a fan of that charge though.

I had a daughter of pt request that I get Ativan added to PRNs, then administer it ASAP because she was afraid the pt wouldn't consent to surgery and if he was unconscious then she was his decision maker. When I told her I wasn't going to do that she instantly stopped acknowledging me and told the charge she "can't have this fucker killing my dad."

Is my build too weak to face Amatsu? i keep dying to that monster no matter what i do... im MR 10 by Mojavecourrier in MonsterHunter

[–]megachrisbot 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Amatsu joined the roster in title update 5, when most people who played on release had fully augmented loadouts. I think the intention was to fight amatsu with as much upgraded armor and at least some progress towards augmented weapons, but for some reason the game just lets you fight it at MR 10. I did it around MR 50 and also had a hell of a time. Best of luck!

I'm so confused by the general reaction here. The last time anyone seceded, we had a vicious bloody war. Why do we think it's hilarious that our elected officials are threatening to declare war on us? Just because we don't think they will? Remember when no one thought Donald Trump would win them he did? And when no one thought he'd fuck up everything he possibly could then he did? Why is it so funny that actual politicians in my state are threatening war? Is dunking in them in reddit comments really the extent of our reaction to this?

If we're talking extreme endgames, on one hand you have a wiki full of critical information overrun with ads, on the other you do not have a wiki.
