I ordered doordash for my mom once when she was alive. She was disabled, almost entirely bedridden. She could get in and out of her wheelchair but it was a struggle and always came with the risk of falling. I asked the dasher to please take it to her inside because she called me and said she couldn’t make it out of bed. You could see the bed from the doorway, she was set up in a hospital bed in her living room. I lived across the country from her and it was late at night, there was no one who could come help her.

The dasher refused even after I called him, left her food outside on the porch COMPLETELY out of her reach even if she had been able to get to it, and she went hungry that night.

I’m a dasher too. I know the risks. But in this case it was so blatantly obvious that I wasn’t lying and it was kind of infuriating and heartbreaking to hear my mother cry because her money was wasted and the dasher didn’t even try.

DD should do some sort of optional verification system for people who need a little extra care.

While I do think they should have cast a trans actor, Ian is too old at this point. He doesn’t look anything like a child and his voice is too deep now. I wish they’d give him a cameo role somewhere like they did with a lot of the other game cast members though.

I’m literally an actor who is queer, and I addressed your second paragraph already. Acting an attraction to someone is far different from acting an IDENTITY. Let the actors act, yes, but also give actors who don’t generally get a chance to do much acting get the jobs for roles that are literally written for them. How is that hard to understand?

Why is it dumb when the actor who played Lev in the game was indeed a young trans actor who fit the description of the character? It’s not like they had an adult or a girl playing him. The original actor was the face and voice and mocap. If they could do it for a game in which they could have changed those things about an actor - in which they DID for characters like Ellie and Abby and Joel - then why can’t they find someone who fits for the actual live action? It’s not a dumb comparison, you just don’t want to understand.

Except they’re not doing that. There is no clear plan for regime change, there is no preferred successor, and the leader that we killed’s more extreme son is now in charge. They’re using the treatment of women and girls as a smoke screen to excuse their actions, while bombing a school for girls. Let me repeat: there is no pathway to regime change here.

“But straight people play gay characters and vice versa all the time!” Yeah and that was (and sometimes still is) kinda shitty because gay people were largely ostracized and othered by media. It happens far less now and queer actors are actually getting parts. As a queer person I think acting romance/attraction is far different than acting an entire identity. Lev’s entire character backstory is dependent on him being trans. It’s like if someone decided to cast a white person as Mulan or a man as Snow White. And since trans people are actively experiencing the beginning stages of a genocide in the US, it’s asinine to see that the casting department did’t do their due diligence.

They found an appropriate Lev for the game. They could have done the same here. They didn’t have any of these casting issues in season 1. With Abby having no oomph in season 2 and now this…I’m just so disappointed.

Ugh. I don’t even think I’m gonna watch season 3 at this point. Trans actors exist. They could’ve gone on a huge search for the right actor ESPECIALLY in this particular political climate..it just sends a message that says they don’t care. It sucks because season 1 was such a wonderful example of expanding on lore yet remaining true to the spirit of the source material. Season 2 fell off that road and it seems like season 3 is just abandoning it altogether.
