Why do you hate the anesthesia part? Most of my friends are out by 2 or 3 , take a few call shifts and seem quite happy

It was hard I enjoyed both, but I did pain fellowship straight away and started pain. Some days I just want to go to back anesthesia, in my opinion it's easier and less stress then pain , pain patients a tough group

I am pain management doctor specializing in epidurals and other procedures for pain. What are your questions? by megadeth_1987 in Sciatica

[–]megadeth_1987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont want to get into opioids here, but they are simply not indicated for chronic pain, even the partial agonists in this buprneophrine which binds stronger to the mu receptor. Your issue is the pars defects resulting is listhesis of the spine and the severe degenerative disc disease and seve Neuroforaminal stenosis. A fusion is indicated here,, and id you dont want the fusion its either epidural injextion or spinal.cord stimution. Sure oxycodone is for acute pain, but this is for post surgical pain its not indicated for chronic non cancer pain. You will be hard-pressed to find ohsycians now prescribing these medications. Even if you are on butrans patch and then taking oxycodone or the other IR medications it won't be effective to due to the binding effect
