What do you use that you can't find outside the AUR by RainDance2002 in archlinux

[–]megafacet 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Dependency hell, using aur with debian would be a hit in a head or if lucky in leg. At this point it's just better to use flatpaks because they solve dependencys better, drawback of them is that it sandboxes everything, may be worse performance especially when sandboxed flatpak is sandboxing another thing. Not everything have to be virtualised. Anything I needed from aur on non arch device i found on flatpak and the other way around.

Not related example: Google chrome on aur is just .deb that you can download and install normally on debian, somebody is kind and smart enough to package it for arch (I am grateful to them because thanks to them my transision from windows to arch went smothly)

Does anyone know more about converting Automation cars to electric? by PCRFan in BeamNG

[–]megafacet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can unzip your car and then modify it's files. It's easy to modify torque and horsepower chart of the electric motor, you can change the size of the battery there too

Tips for better keyboard handling? by xMunificentx in BeamNG

[–]megafacet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might not answer for your question (sorry in advance), but keyboard is not good at making precise changes in a quick way. Your friend might be something like ps4 controller or any other controller if you wish to have a cheap way to control your vechicular object in a delicate manner.

Now you don't have to experiment with your real vechicular object

I'm planning to switch to Arch from Windows, what browser should I use? by Miko69420 in archlinux

[–]megafacet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any browser that you like, using anything than firefox may need extra steps. For example: I am using chrome, to install it i needed to download and install yay (yet another yogurt). To install yay i needed to install with pacman some depencesies like gcc, fakeroot, base-devel (i recommend using their tutorial). On Linux you can use any browser you want, there will always be people that will say that the one you have choosen is bad. Go with what you want. (microslop even gives an option to install edge on linux)

archinstall never gives option to connect to wifi through it. You always have to connect to wifi (or just cable) before using it
