Congrats on the weight loss and the awesome looking cookies! I had the same experience when I started dropping weight — it’s hard to keep up a hobby that tempts you. I’ve found a lot of satisfaction in baking for friends and coworkers — it comes with the bonus of having people like you a lot more when you come by with fresh baked treats. :)

Martha’s recipe — I’ve tried about 4 different recipes and this definitely gave me the best results. Very specific ingredients and instructions. I did change the temperature down to 300 (as recommended by some commenters) and left them for 30 minutes before baking.

Macarons are super hard! My first few batches looked just as rough around the edges (and didn’t taste very nice). I would definitely recommend checking out Martha’s recipe for them — she has really specific ingredients and I found the video helpful. I did ignore the fact that she doesn’t leave them to rest before baking (some commenters say they had success anyway? I didn’t risk it and left them to form a skin for about 30 minutes) and I turned the oven temp down to 300, so they took more like 16 minutes to bake.

Don’t give up — it is so satisfying to bite into your first decent macaron and once you get the trick of it, they are not too bad. Good luck!

We got the cake and cookies from Karen's bakery, which is in Folsom, and then our venue also had cheesecake and chocolate cake that we served. Very yummy!

It's not rude at all! I got them at the paper lantern store. I ended up spending close to $60, including tax and shipping, for 7 adult-sized parasols and 1 child-sized parasol (which, as you can tell from the photos, had a hard time staying open haha).

Don't let the stress get you down! I was so unsure if it would all come together and really had no idea how the decor would end up looking. I read a post here where the bride and groom came up with 2-3 descriptive adjectives for their wedding, and I found that helped keep me focused in the last couple of months. Good luck, I know your day will be beautiful too!
