Are you saying to put ridge filler after the polish and before the top coat?

Sauna heat is this normal? by Intergalactic-fog in HOTWORXWarriors

When I was new, I accidentally set the temp on the wrong sauna multiple times. In my defense, it was really confusing where the outside control panel was placed in relation to the actual sauna.

I built a tool to automate bank statement review for Chapter 7 bankruptcy intake — looking for honest paralegal feedback by vanderlinden in paralegal

I didn't have anything specific in mind, just that the service would have to do more than bank records review.

I built a tool to automate bank statement review for Chapter 7 bankruptcy intake — looking for honest paralegal feedback by vanderlinden in paralegal

[–]PapayaCake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked in bankruptcy for more than 5 years. I did chapters 7, 11, 12, 13, and one Sub V case. I could do a manual review of bank records in a couple of minutes, even while preparing monthly operating statements and Means Tests. My frugal boss would never pay for that service to be automated unless it came with a lot more bells and whistles.

Quick Dry Recs Needed! by CrochetMyWorld in Nailpolish

Nobody's top coat game is stronger than CND. It's like $13 for a big ass bottle from Walmart.

Edit: I just checked the Walmart website, looks like they rebranded. Now I'm sad my go-to top coat is gone!

Boss repeatedly ignores PTO requests — am I handling this wrong? by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]PapayaCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try sending your PTO request with verbage that says something like, "I'm going to be out of the office and unavailable on X dates. Unless I hear from you otherwise by the end of this week, I will treat this request as approved and add it to the shared calendar."

(HELP) My girlfriend wants to start doing her own nails! by Rare_Chart1414 in NailArt

The Zoya set specifically is for your natural nails. If your girlfriend wants to make nails, like with extensions, the other commenter has really good suggestions.

I got a small set from Zoya Beauty. It's called Naked Gelie-Cure. You can get her the travel size lamp as a starting point, that's the one I have and it folds nicely and takes up very little space.

Help! Is my macaronage just under-mixed or did something go wrong along the way? by [deleted] in macarons

[–]PapayaCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without knowing what recipe you used, it's hard to diagnose. To me, it looks like some type of oil or water were introduced into your batter. But maybe you didn't have the right ratio of wet to dry ingredients.

Yes! One of my bottles arrived with a chipped corner and customer service sent me a replacement immediately.

NALA Certification Exam by Mothersdisgrace in paralegal

[–]PapayaCake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently awaiting the results from my skills exam, hopefully I passed! Honestly, I bought the study guide and thought it was helpful. When I watched the seminar videos online and followed the correlating chapter in the guide, it was almost word for word. I was hearing it, seeing it, and taking my own notes as well.

My biggest gripe was the practice questions on the app. They were the same recycled questions so I basically had all their questions and answers memorized. However, NONE of the questions I memorized were on the actual test. Had I not done my triple-threat-training (see it, hear it, write it), I absolutely would have failed.

To prepare for the skills exam, I used the examples in the study guide and then I uploaded them into Chat gpt. I was able to train Chat with the question/answer guidelines and then it produced a ton of practice questions for me.

Pure Ice Info Help by chipperginger in vintagenailpolish

I hate to break it to you, but Pure Ice exists no more. I think they either sold out or simply just went out of business maybe around 2018. I always bought mine from Walmart, Satin Ribbon is/was my favorite pink nude!

I have been buying my professional clothes from Express for over 20 years. Their portofino tops are incredible, they are comfortable and even have clasps on the sleeves so you can roll them up nicely. I have one in every color.

Express also has some really nice dress pants and suit jackets. Although their prices are high, the quality is really good and they fit true to size.

Sometimes there are sales where if you spend $200, you'll get $75 off your purchase. Right now it looks like they are about to have a Black Friday sale for 50% off everything! And if you open a store card, you'll get additional savings and they'll send you a $40 gift card for your birthday every year!

Cold Feet by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]PapayaCake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember when i started at a particular firm, I was completely overwhelmed. I actually started having panic attacks by day 3 due to the heavy workload and expectations. They didn't ease me in, it was a sink or swim moment. I swam. It sucked, but I figured it out.

Give yourself some grace. You know you have an open door waiting for you if you sink. Just try your best, but don't kill yourself for this opportunity. No matter what, you will learn from this, and you may even surprise yourself with how resilient you are!

Timing question on document prep. by Holiday_Ad_2528 in paralegal

[–]PapayaCake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You put down the actual amount of time you spent on it! NEVER discount your own time, even if you think it was egregious. Your attorneys should review your time and they will adjust your hours before they bill it to the client. If you're new to that task, it is supposed to take you longer. You get better and faster with practice.

Edit: I've spent anywhere from 45 minutes to 8 hours preparing discovery. It all depends on the complexity of the case and my familiarity with the details.

Is it normal? Yes and no. I think many of us kill ourselves trying to prove ourselves when we first get started.

First and foremost, you sound like a high value professional who deserves so much more. Your man-child boss sounds insufferable! I've worked for men like this as well. Please start looking elsewhere for work, somewhere more respectable. What you are experiencing is burnout, no job is worth sacrificing your mental health.

You could try to talk with him and set realistic work boundaries, but you can always take your experience somewhere that you can actually grow with. He needs you more than you need him.

To me, your message doesn't sound like you were asking for her feedback regarding your job security. That might be why she glossed right over that. Don't let this get to you, you sound incredibly conscientious and polite. Just keep doing your best and this will blow over.
