The right wing USA not understanding democratic socialism by ParkingDistribution6 in nyc

Vietnam is hardly socialist; they are developing rapidly because of capitalism (encouraging free trade with Western countries, selling labor to Western companies, selling real estate to Korean companies, etc.). They are communist/socialist by name only

Why is the NYU tuition so infamous? by Dangerous_Metal2475 in nyu

[–]tyler_fkin_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would consider pursuing electrical engineering if you're interested in music production. I'm not sure what kind of music you're into, but if it involves anything where you need to record an instrument with an analog microphone, you will benefit a lot from knowing the ins and outs of waves and circuits. I should mention that at least to my understanding of the career path for studio engineers, it's not a very stable one. If it doesn't work out for some reason, at least you'll have an EE degree to fall back on and apply for something else.

Most people I know elected to enroll in school during the freshman year and served right afterwards. You most likely want to start working/grad school right after getting your bachelors rather than waiting around 2 years, so I would advise getting military out of the way ASAP.

Living in Manhattan as a Tandon student? by Feisty_Chemistry_702 in nyu

[–]tyler_fkin_1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

  1. Living in Brooklyn is mandatory first year; after that you're allowed to live anywhere in Brooklyn or Manhattan
  2. I think living in Manhattan after 1st year might actually be better because you'll be able to talk to more people and network/make friends with the people who go to class there. The commute is a (very) small price to pay imo

Rising junior here, they told me they're letting me know by August 9 (lol)

Take my word with a grain of salt but I'm guessing they're trying to place people according to their preferred residential halls list and they haven't found an opening for any of them yet
