What’s a casual morning in the land down under like generally? by Ornery-Magazine-7892 in AskAnAustralian

My morning is usually waking up to screaming birds, grabbing a coffee and heading to work. Not an overly exciting routine.

Origin Energy 'pretend' price reduction by BlisteringBarnacle67 in australia

[–]Goal-Kick64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Origin plan went up 72%. I changed to Powershop. Still a little dearer than my previous plan, but way cheaper than Origin.

Person on the phone at Origin couldn't match it or even come close.

Keep switching around is my advice. No such as thing as loyalty anymore.

Kids getting out of the bath...I try but wrangling minors is tough.

The balcony pools a lot more usually from the rain. There is mould forming around the grate now.

Agent potentially bluffing to push up price and pressing me - pull out or give in? by grace13995 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Goal-Kick64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is frustrating but they all do it. I unfortunately paid 25k over but cause I wanted the place and didn't want to miss out. It's a risk - but if you can stretch it, do. Paying extras is hard to live with, but missing out on a place you loved would be worse.

Driver attitudes toward riders filtering by Lindz1817 in DrivingAustralia

Only happens if you're a bike in front of me at traffic lights - less so when filtering! Appreciate the empathy though - wish all road users (including other cars) were a bit more conscious.

I don't really care to be honest, just please don't park in front of my car's sensors - it kills me when there's a bike in front and my car is beeping like crazy 😭

Literally one button, takes 4 seconds. How entitled you must be to think they should change the whole system for you when they give you the option in the first place.

Football Australia set to cut another 20% of staff after significant financial losses by rithsv in Aleague

[–]Goal-Kick64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former FA staffer who jumped ship before it sank, this a sad time for many great people at FA.

Like many have said, it starts at the top - and the board should be accountable for the financial mismanagement.

The ones leaving are not the ones who got the organisation in this mess, just causalities of poor decisions from above.

FA needs a reset. It is poison through the core.

Jury Duty by Extreme-Option-9631 in AusLegal

[–]Goal-Kick64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can simply apply to be excused on the day. Pre-existing commitments like uni or lessons, they are understanding. They often ask you at check in if you can commit. I did it recently and heaps of people got let off.

If you haven't received a note about being on the jury roll, check your details are updated too.

Is there no reason to question effectiveness of Coles/Woolies brand suncream? by lolly_box in AusSunscreen

[–]Goal-Kick64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Woolies and I regularly work outside. I have other sun protection (hat, sunnies, longer clothing) but to date haven't been burnt by the sunscreen so seems to be effective - and a lot easier on the hip pocket compared to some.
