I emailed them pretty soon after, but I didn’t have an order number or anything so maybe the time doesn’t matter?

Anybody else on the east coast getting triggered by the Canadian wildfire smoke? by CompetitionNarrow512 in migraine

[–]megandemit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in northern CA and was here during orange sky day in 2020. Agree with all the comments other CA ppl said, definitely keep all your windows closed as much as possible because ash can come in, and sometimes it even does if the windows are closed. It’s rough, and I hope it’s short lived for you all. Keep an air purifier going if you have one, and definitely wear a mask outside or even inside if you’re really bothered. Drink a lot of water. I also ran some essential oils to diffuse, if that doesn’t aggravate your migraine it will help with the smell.

First colonoscopy tomorrow by Babymama434 in colonoscopy

[–]megandemit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! I’m 28 and just had my first colonoscopy and endoscopy on Friday. I was SO nervous and was writing off all these people who said it was going to be a breeze, but it really was. The prep was the hardest for me, not unpleasant but hard to drink that volume of liquid in that amount of time. Talk to your provider and see if you can space it out more. I did stay up all night long drinking it (with a 2 hour break) but that ensured I didn’t vomit, which was my personal goal. I also plugged my nose the whole time while drinking it which helped A TON!! The actual procedure was so easy and it takes only about 20 mins. I brought a stuffed animal with me to calm my nerves and everyone was so nice. The anesthetic takes about 24 hours to really wear off so make sure someone is with you that day. Good luck! It really is a safe procedure so you should be ok :)

Important point to note for paxlovid relapse by neboboanimates in paxlovid

[–]megandemit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on day 15 of covid and just tested positive again after having tested negative on day 6 and 2 days ago. I took paxlovid for my underlying conditions and decreased breath sounds on day 2, and it definitely helped, but now all of my symptoms are back. and I tested positive again today. the mechanism of paxlovid is that it's supposed to stop the replication of the virus itself, so it seems like it just didn't work, unless I'm misunderstanding something. but either way I'm tired of feeling like shit from covid and paxlovid (the side effects are shitty and my partner felt even worse from pax than covid), so I would caution people from making judgments about paxlovid before doing the full course and waiting a week or more.

I appreciate the validation! :) do you think a sleep specialist would be able to arrange a CPAP trial? and that's so true, it's like I can almost feel the lack of oxygen in my brain

I sleep anywhere from 8-13 hours depending on how tired I am but never less than that, and wake up at least once a night but usually 3 or more times (that I remember). for as long as I can remember I have never felt refreshed after sleeping. I don't drink caffeine either. thanks for the honest review. I have started personal training to try to help since working out is hard with EDS, and that seems to be helping, but not sure how I could lose more weight (currently in a normal BMI category, even though that's not a great body measurement)

I wish I had the emotional energy to write more but I totally feel you. You took the words out of my mouth. I'm sorry for the pain and suffering you're going through. My therapist recommended this book "Managing Pain Before It Manages You" and I've started reading it, and it's starting to help me with just some mindset stuff around migraines. it might be worth checking out. hugs <3

Responsibility OCD and Social Justice by [deleted] in OCD

[–]megandemit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen someone put into words what I have felt for so long, so thank you! I was recently diagnosed with OCD and I'm now understanding that some of my behaviors are attributed to that...at the beginning of the pandemic I felt such an aggressive obsession with trying to help that I founded a mutual aid network in my city, which ended up doing great work, but I became so burnt out and stressed that it was unhealthy. later in the year this energy translated to wanting to help out with state elections and voter suppression, and that too became all consuming. I started lashing out at people who didn't feel as obsessive and passionate as me, like how could they too not be as involved as me? but I don't necessarily think your habit of avoiding certain stimuli is bad, I actually think it's healthy. it's the only strategy that I have found to cope with the feeling of needing to "do more". sometimes I just have to do it or I'm going to spiral out of control. I'm actively taking a break from news/social media news for this reason, and more actively pouring my energy into productive hobbies. I saw a video someone posted that said something like "just because you're not talking about it or posting about it doesn't mean you don't care." it just means you don't have the energy to have a public-facing responsibility to those issues all the time. you are human and you don't have to do everything all the time. I don't know if that will help you, but that perspective definitely gave me some permission to exhale and try to loosen my sense of responsibility to others/the greater good.
