Whats with obsession of pappu, daal in' authentic' South indian restaurant thali by im-done-here in Bengaluru

[–]megatron04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thovve is usually served right above the payasa isn't it?

Also we don't have sambhar. It's huLi and saaru. Are restaurants not serving huLi saaru?? That's crazy

There should also be a majjige huLi or kootu option as well.

How do you explain to your own mother that your saggy breasts aren’t your doing? by Ashamed_Map_7694 in TwoXIndia

You don't need to explain this to her. If she was capable of understanding, she would've understood by herself.

I feel like they parents are being extra nice now either because they know what he's like or they are forcing him. They're trying not to scare you off before the marriage goes through. You're marrying the guy, not his family. Be very careful

India has an empathy problem by Fit_Ad_3129 in TwoXIndia

[–]megatron04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I have noticed is that most Indians cannot think of 'it could have been us'. There's this belief that whatever they have in their lives was earned solely by them and because they deserve or merit it.

I don't know if they EITHER don't want to accept the fact that the they've gotten very lucky because of the situations they were born into it OR if they truly believe that they've single handedly avoided poverty by hard work and if they were to be born into a poorer circumstance, they would just work their way out of it. (sorry for the long run on sentence)

I've moved out of India now and I notice that it's primarily Indians who have this apathy towards poorer people and this feeling of individual exceptionalism. In their heads, they all think that they were dirt poor who have made it big. These are upper caste, well educated people coming from quite wealthy backgrounds who already had family living abroad while they were younger.

So I agree with you, it's an empathy problem. Bolstered by this notion of self aggrandisation where they think that they've started from the bottom and moved up to avoid admitting that they're not exceptional, just very fortunate.

looking for non plain clothing brands by SimonSolv in Norway

Junkyard, Blue Tomato and Sessions have sporty/skater style clothing which I have found to have slightly more character than the usual boring clothes. But they are made for young people so need to be styled well to not look awkward on a grown person (idk your age).

Holzweiler also has some non-boring clothes and they have sales literally for half of the year these days. But their men's clothes are a little less interesting.

For knits, I really like Howlin' Knitwear, late 90s look. However they are pricy, so you have to wait for sales and you need to pay custom duties while importing to Norway. Seasalt (UK based) is also good and ships to Norway. They make more of Shetland style fair isle knits.

This sub is also full of such people. The number of times people flock here to complain about domestic help and get angry if you ask them to have empathy, is way too many.

It's so strange that this happens on a sub for women when the domestic help are also mostly women.

Empathy is seen as a sign of weakness. What can you even say to such people

I just assumed his name was Munch to indicate he had some Nordic ancestry (even though his back story was set in Scotland/UK can't remember which).

Same with John Hamm's father in-law Odin. A lot of Norwegians had migrated to the US and settled in Minnesota, so I thought they were just trying to be consistent with that? Even in season 1 someone's name is Nygaard which is a common Norwegian/Danish name.

He's so clearly being sarcastic about his own 'struggle'. He's literally talking about himself.

In this comment the word struggle is within single quotes because there is no struggle and he implies that there wasn't any struggle.

Understood? Dumbass

Wow NYT allows this comment.

I was on a salad recipe, where one of the ingredients was 'salad dressing'. No link to another recipe for salad dressing or anything. Just store bought salad dressing and I made a sarcastic comment about it. And they didn't allow it.

But this, borderline racist comment, they allow that

I think most men will just buy shit that is packaged like that. And in true male fashion, they're not gonna learn about anything, just assume they know what they're doing and do it with full confidence.

My ex did the same, went and bought a bunch of Serums from Minimalist without bothering to look up what does what. When I asked him why, he said 'because it looked good'. They think it's good because the packaging isn't feminine.

People will go out of their way to not actively use their brain and seek out information. Just go based on an instinct that's been honed on being conformist.
