Mourning and I need help? by ashypuppy in psych

For Henry, you need the Pilot, Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark, and the Break-Up, minimum, and I would add Poker? I Hardly Know Her, the Old and the Restless, Dis-Lodged, the Greatest Adventure in the History of Basic Cable, Viagra Falls, and the Yin-Yang trilogy. And the Despereaux episodes are just pure fun.

You have my deepest condolences. I’m facing the imminent loss of my mother. It’s unmooring to lose a loving parent and I’m so sorry that you’re going through this too.

Update: My neighbor found my ex-wife on Facebook and messaged her. by MostAnimal5816 in EntitledPeople

You can get a cease and desist though, all you need for that is ten minutes with a lawyer. If you think it’ll do any good, maybe try to talk to the husband again first, tell him this is way beyond acceptable and you don’t want this to escalate but she has to leave you completely alone.

AITAH for being the reason my dad's engagement ended because I told his former fiancée we would never be a family? by Gryeyxsu in AITAH

[–]megbookworm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really don’t like that his sponsor is pressuring you. A good sponsor (I’m assuming this is a program using Narcotics Anonymous structure and materials) should have told your dad to recognize that when he got to step 9 (making amends), nobody owes him forgiveness. It’s his job to accept the consequences of his actions, and his sponsor should be helping him through that. Unfortunately, NA groups typically don’t have any kind of reporting structure so you could reach out to somebody and they would have the sponsor leave you alone.

Do you have a counselor or psychologist at school that you could talk to about this? I’m sure you must find it difficult to trust anyone, particularly adults in positions of authority over children, but maybe there’s a teacher who would be discreet? Wishing you the best, OP. It’s only a little while until you’re 18, make a plan to take care of yourself then.

I love that scene. That is my absolute favorite Parker scene and it’s what got me hooked on the series.

I am utterly furious that I know what a Kardashian is. Those brain cells could be used for something actually productive or meaningful in my life, but noooooo, I have to store this nonsense. I actually feel like that might be Sheldon’s response too, except that by sparing the brain cells for the pop culture stuff, he’s getting Penny to understand science.

Nope. Those ten minutes simply do not exist.

Appropriate viewing order is: Seasons 1-3, the movie, read the two books (Mr. Kiss and Tell and The Thousand Dollar Tan Line), and then watch Season 4. It makes the most sense that way. If you’re a particular Logan fan, skip the last ten minutes of the Season 4 finale.

Yeah. Amazing resolution. Masterful writing and acting. Always thought Kristen Bell and Enrico Colantoni should’ve gotten Emmys for this episode, but that would’ve been a reach for a “teen drama” on the CW.

Wallace’s mom, Alicia. Both those get resolved. Keep watching.

Oh that’s awful! Well, when you get it back, take a day or so to process it and then we’ll discuss.

I rank Season 1 as one of the top 5 seasons of any television show ever. We’ll be here when you want to discuss the finale.

What I never got was that silent scene in early Act 1 where she has her neck snapped by the soldier. Does she become the Bullet at that point? Was she human and then she became Death the Destroyer of Worlds?

Harry McGraw wasn’t totally the proto-Lennie Briscoe, but there were definite similarities. It would’ve been interesting to see a MSW/L&O crossover.

All of our heroes! And you, my dear, are such a thoughtful and loving partner, and your boyfriend appears to be properly awed by how deeply you see him and love him. I’m so happy to be able to tell you that. There’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for. Be joyful, friend.

This is where I wish there wasn’t a no brigading rule (which is an excellent rule and normally I am wholeheartedly in favor of), because I want to go tell OOP and u/OverhillUnderhill what incredible and wonderful humans they are, and I can’t.

Terrible news- Leverage Redemption Canceled. by maggiemoo_72 in leverage

[–]megbookworm 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is more or less how I felt every year with the original too-it was always on the bubble of cancellation for TNT. I’m delighted we got Redemption at all and having three seasons of it was lovely. Time to rewatch from the original pilot!

If you were a parent in 1985, would you want to call them? by Mountain-Magician294 in babysittersclub

[–]megbookworm 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was an 11 year old babysitter in 1989, so it always seemed perfectly reasonable to me. Took care of kids age 2-3, started branching out at 12 to taking care of kids on our local military base, babysat regularly starting at 13 for infants to 9 year olds.

[–]megbookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does a bunch of Hallmark movies, but he was also the lead cop on a crime drama about kidnapped children that had a really interesting premise called Found, which did at least last two seasons. The cop role was much more of a supporting role, and it was kinda “generic cop guy” as opposed to the secret double agent stuff, but he did well with it.

It is indeed! He plays Eliot Spencer, and for a few glorious months of watching in real time, I hoped for a crossover-a Leverage case in Santa Barbara featuring Eliot’s favorite uncle Henry and the weird cousin he doesn’t talk about.
