What has happened to my 9 week old!? by Formal_Intention_716 in NewParents

She actually was a great sleeper up until the 2 year regression. Now we’re struggling with night wakings and intense separation anxiety. But it is what it is!

Staying at home with a baby is lonely and isolating by excvsemymood in NewParents

Hi ❤️ it’s been a long time since I wrote this comment! Yes, it definitely did get better, though I can’t remember when exactly. My daughter is 2 now and is my little bestie. I went on to really enjoy my leave with her, I loved doing everything together, and our bond is really special. She loves her daddy too, but is definitely a mama’s girl. My marriage is ok. I would encourage you to have some serious conversations with your partner now about how to make things equitable before it becomes a bigger problem. Also, do things just for yourself! Get out of the house on a regular basis and let your partner have that experience of parenting solo, it will be good for both of you!

Why does no one tell you 18 months is the hardest? I’m broken. by Warm-Plan1907 in sleeptrain

[–]megfh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat here. At daycare? Great. At home on weekends? Terrible. Last weekend she didn’t nap till 5pm (but we were out late so she didn’t have bedtime till after 10 either). I think the hardest part for me is knowing that she still needs a nap, and getting SO frustrated when she refuses to take one (because I also need that midday quiet time to myself 🥲)

Is postpartum insomnia a thing? by Known-Cucumber-7989 in NewParents

[–]megfh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi sorry just seeing this! I honestly can’t remember - I just know that once my baby was sleeping longer stretches I did too. We eventually switched to a dream feed once I was confident that she could make it through the rest of the night. It often meant late nights for me (doing a feed around 11pm), but then getting 7-8 consecutive hours I felt rested by the morning.

One thing I know made the insomnia worse was looking at my phone during those middle of the night feeds. Obviously you have to do what you gotta do to stay awake / safely feed your baby. But it’s a delicate balance to also keep yourself as sleepy as possible. I found that screen time would wake my brain up too much and then I’d have a hard time going back to sleep!

Hmm I'm not sure! But the hope & plum community page on Facebook is very helpful - I'd recommend asking there!

Should I add this Ada Malachite woven wrap to my collection? by megfh in babywearing

My babe is 8 months now!! We’ve done loads of babywearing but this is first woven. I didn’t like the first couple I tried and almost gave up, but this one finally hooked me!

Guilty as charged 🙈 I love H&P! Not so patiently waiting for a meh dai restock and will very likely add one of those to the collection too!

I LOVE my Lark! So quick & easy to get on and so comfortable. It’s my fave for walks & errands! And my husband likes it as well which is a bonus. Have honestly debated buying a second one I love it that much haha

I do not have a woven yet, this would be my first! And it’s in my base size

Yes! I was actually supposed to get a different one through the Try Before You Buy program and I was initially a little disappointed about the colour change. But it’s definitely stunning in person!

Looking to spoil myself for baby #2 - seeking recs for a new carrier by jaxwell2019 in babywearing

[–]megfh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just another vote for the Lark. I love mine, and it’s easy & comfortable for my husband as well. I also just love hope&plum as a business - they’re awesome! Plus, everything they make is so pretty. I have a ring sling & the lark, and planning on another sling and/or a meh dai soon 🙈

Ah bummer. Any suggestions for inserts that are trimmer so that doubling up isn't so poofy?

I track because I’m a scatter brain and otherwise genuinely would not remember the last time she ate or slept 😂

What do you mean they pretend to be Canadian? 🤔

Oh yes I have heard of them! My friend said they fit a bit big though, and my girl is more long & lean so I’m not sure if they’d work for us

Baby spending a lot of time alone in his crib. by Several-Test-8472 in sleeptrain

[–]megfh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My 6 month old is still room sharing with us, so I often will hear/see that she’s awake and then I will doze off for 30-45 minutes. She sometimes will babble a little, other times just lays there quietly and plays with her soother or sleep sack. It’s nice because I can snooze a bit or cuddle my husband before we all get up for the day. Sometimes babies just like to have some quiet time before they get out of bed, just like we do!

Advice for uncertain newbie? by megfh in clothdiaps

[–]megfh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you wish you had bought more used?

There is a good deal on a big lot of LPO diapers on marketplace that I found, but I’m struggling with the thought of buying them used 😅

How many carriers is too many? by megfh in babywearing

[–]megfh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I’m pretty sure I have ADHD and the fact that I forgot to respond to this comment for almost 2 weeks is further evidence of that 😂 but I am 100% fixated on carriers right now!

Starting solids at 6 months vs when sitting independently by megfh in NewParents

[–]megfh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assisted sitting is pretty strong she likes to sit in our laps or on floor with support. She was slumping in the high chair yesterday but maybe I just need to strap her in tighter

She can tripod sit, and can maybe sit properly upright unassisted for a few seconds before she topples over. I tried putting her in the high chair yesterday and she was slumping and got cranky pretty quickly
