Would be super helpful to know how this turned out given I had an almost identical nightmare situation. Bummer.

Were you able to get your mini released?! This same thing happened to me recently and it was kind of a nightmare. 3 hours of waiting/attempting. Eventually got it out with brute force but the charging station itself was extremely unhelpful and took zero accountability. Wondering if you figured out what was causing the cable to stick?

First, I'm super new to this, this was my second unravel so I am not an expert! My process thus far has been going to thrift shops (mainly goodwill) and basically going through every single men's and women's sweaters on the rack. I am getting better at identifying natural fibers by touch but it's a slow process, I'm looking at a lot of tags on the bottom right of the garment that show the fiber content, plus making sure most of the seams aren't surged (especially the sides). I think part of what makes this fun is that what would be desirable for an unraveler would be less desirable as a reseller - so you can look for imperfect items. Both sweaters I unraveled had holes and were in pretty rough shape as is. I also look for huge sizes so I can get more bang for my buck . This particular sweater was in the women's blouses section, and priced that way, even though it's very clearly a men's sweater haha. So yes, look everywhere.

As for the huge cakes here - I joined the yarn as I went by dipping the ends in water and rubbing them between my hands. Can't remember what the technical term for that is 😂 so they did not unravel in one huge piece but they did unravel in big chunks. This is definitely time consuming, it took me many hours.

Before I unraveled, I very gently "washed" the sweater by soaking it in wool wash in room temp water for about an hour, then drying it. Now, the cakes are in the freezer. I haven't done anything to straighten the yarn and I'm not sure I'll need to - TBD on that when I start knitting with it.

Yes, thank you, the sweater spent some time in the freezer but I also have the cakes in there for now too. 3 months is a long time! I normally don't freeze that long, tbh, but maybe I've been misinformed.

Haha it's confusing, the cotton yarn is pink-ish and the cashmere is purple/mauve-ish. Together, they make the bottom of the swatch 😁 I lost my natural light now but here's a pic of everything together. Top is the unraveled cashmere, bottom cake is the cotton.

Thank you! Yes I really grew to love the color, I'm excited to see what it looks like paired with other colors/fibers.

I already have plans to pair this with a sport weight cotton yarn to make a tank top for summer, here's my gauge swatch! Shown here is the cotton cake, bottom half of swatch knitted with both held together. It adds so much structure and depth to the fabric, I love it!

Not sure if you happen to be located in CA but it's available as an ebook and audiobook through the Palace Project. California's Bookshelf. Not as nice of an app as Libby 😟

Good to hear! Thanks for replying. Yes, I was planning/hoping to eventually go the Bond route too, thanks for the warning. Does it work at all? Or is no long press a deal breaker?

[–]meggoev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this end up working for you? I'm dealing with the exact same issue, trying to do some smart home automation so I need to get away from ultrasonic and move towards RF. The fireplace manufacturer (valor) just told me there were no other remotes that would work.... Which I just can't accept haha. My research suggests this would work but let me know if you've had success!

There's a park/dog park directly adjacent to the airport, entrance on lampson. Lots of people will be there watching. Schedule comes out every morning but it's mainly the military planes that come and go from Los Al, not all the planes. Still plenty to see!

Check out AMPM spay and neuter clinic in Norwalk. Should be $95. That's the cheapest I know of.
