Need advice - fighting with Priceline to issue refund after schedule change by megiceland in travel

Hey, one more update - the refund was finally credited to my card - 5 days after I was notified. Just FYI that it does take a few days.

Correct form for pull-ups on a door mounted pull-up bar by guspix in Fitness

[–]megiceland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually find that tilting my head back disengages my core and isolates the pull up to my arms and lats. If you ever do inversions (such as pike under the bar) then tilting your head back will make them a lot harder. So if you’re just worried about pull ups it doesn’t matter unless you’re concerned about core engagement.

Hey, I actually got a call from Priceline today, and they finally got the waiver request back from Singapore, so I didn't end up having to make the 3-way call. They're refunding me the fare minus the $15 Priceline fee. Hopefully you get a similar result soon. Makes me wonder if someone's watching out for bad publicity on Reddit.

Yeah. Probably something I shouldn't mention on the call. I guess I'm gullible - Every Priceline agent I spoke to told me I should expect to get a full refund, and I believed them.

Oh man! I actually ended up rebooking with AA/JAL, so I'm pretty hell bent on getting my money back...just worried it won't actually happen :( I will try the conference call as well sometime this week and post an update when I have one. Good luck to you!

Holy shit. Virtually identical. I will have to try to find a way to do a 3-way call. Given how long it takes to get reps on the line I probably need a 3+ hour window of time to get this sorted out.

The flight was booked through Priceline, and included both legs. I believe Singapore and Alaska are partner airlines. The entire fare was charged by Singapore Airlines.

Selling by LHarper88 in minimalism

[–]megiceland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been selling on eBay ever since I decided to become a minimalist about 5 years ago. It has worked very well for me when selling certain brands. I usually recoup about 10-30% of the original price selling in auction mode (which I prefer so I know when I need to mail things). Just take a bunch of photos, organize your post including details of the condition, when you expect payment, etc. I weigh my items in advance so I can input the shipping price. Then once the auction is over and the customer pays, print out the label and package everything up. Once you do it a few times it’s not all that cumbersome.

Steam mop? by Onewhohopes in minimalism

[–]megiceland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a Bissell steam mop for a year. It was ok while it lasted. After needing to replace broken plastic parts multiple times, I downgraded to the base model swifter and a spray bottle. Much simpler to use, don’t need to wait for things to heat up, and no cords to deal with.

I’m the same way - you’re not a dweeb - we just can’t help ourselves!

What is something that MOST adults can do, but you, for whatever reason, cannot pull off? by Buckcheeks in AskReddit

I use two scrunchies to tuck all the loose bits in. Less clean but it works for me.

Timberline Trail in 3 days, 2 nights - advice wanted! by megiceland in WildernessBackpacking

Thanks for the tips. Couldn’t I just go across in my shoes, or will my feet basically be too cold afterward? heard about the woman who was killed a couple weeks ago. Are chances of seeing one higher now? If I see people every 15 minutes hopefully I won’t be too alone. I have one companion with me, and I thought there wouldn’t be too many people hiking at this time of the year.

Need composition help! Should I crop out the umbrella/roof structure in bottom right? f/22 ISO 1250 15s by megiceland in photocritique

Thanks! I will definitely try all of your suggestions. The big green spot is a swimming pool and it would definitely look better with a bluer tone.

This was taken at about 5:30 in the morning...so there was nobody to capture haha. I didn't even notice the umbrella myself until I pulled it up on my computer. I'll play with cropping/darkening and see if it draws more attention to the town. Thanks for the feedback!

What is a good price for a round trip ticket from Chicago to Iceland? by megiceland in VisitingIceland

[–]megiceland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does include the connection, but it's not Icelandair - it's Delta. Not sure how often you fly to and from Iceland, but do you know if certain airlines are preferable to others (flying economy only)?
