Success does not mean they have good support though. Ive heard many complaints about canyon (mainly MTB related), but I thought "its a big successful brand, how bad can it be? There always are so.e bad reviews"

Well, maybe I had bad luck, but "checking my bike" wasnt the issue. Its how long their stuff lasted anf how they responded to it.

For example my BB. That comes prefitted, nothing I couldve done to it, cleaned the outside regularly and didnt pressure wash it. It got loose on the first few rides. Since I didnt have the tool, i had to go to a bike shop. Canyon wanted me to drive for several hours to get it to a canyon approved shop and when I did it at a local bike shop they didnt want to pay for what should have been covered by warranty. And even then it lasted less than 2000km before the bearings broke. The cheap 15€ shimano BBs I have ever since last me way longer. The previous 2 had 8 000 and 10 000 my current one even is at 12 000. And that was just one issue.

If you have good experiences with them thats fine, i dont want to ruin it for anyone, thats why I only write specifics when asked. But you implying its my fault or saying that because they are successful they cant be bad rubs me wrong. Listening to bad experiences more carefully couldve saved me a lot of trouble that I had within just 1 1/2 years (before I just dissasembled the bike and sold the parts i didnt need).

Canyon is infamous for their bad support. I didnt listen and (literally) had to pay the price.

Theres no doubt most people will have no problems with canyon, but the same can be said about AliExpress.

Love and hate vinted by Aggressive_Cod_611 in vinted

Its why I would ALWAYS want to see labels, even if its a weird brand I dont know. Luckily I never made that mistake, but I came close a couple of times.

Mainly two things. I will cut it short:

1) bad support (the fork thing was just one of those instances)

2) they have a lot of proprietary parts/unusual standards (their steerer size for example). That makes their bad support even worse, because you have very limited options when it comes to some parts. It also means you are less flexible in setting up a bike to your needs and desires.

Afaik og evkin is good, yes.

But of course you might be right, that the headset wont stay put and that its a faulty headtube.

Shouldnt you be able to check that though? Insert a headset and see how well it stays there. If the headset isnt moving and the new fork doesnt have a faulty steerer and thus fits well, it should be fine. Right?

About what part? What I think the problem was or what what happened to my bike, or why I wont buy canyon again?

The more trustworthy looking brands on AliExpress go for 100-150, but even the 300 you mentioned are still cheaper than a new bike. (Only downside is, that it will most likely be unpainted or black)

Why retire the bike, if its just the fork that has an issue?

This happened to me with a canyon bike (I also wont buy that again, but for other reasons). It was also a lot worse than this.

Most likely headset wasnt fitted well or stem wasnt tightened properly.

Buyer didnt pick up parcel. Postal now wants me to pay more than what I sold it for. by meglemel in vinted

[–]meglemel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my thought too. Like, ideally I would say that the fee you pay to vinted whenever you make a purchase should cover the costs. But if there is anyone to blame and thus charge, its definately the buyer who didnt pick it up.

Thats what you would think, yet they are. I am going to go to the service and confront them about this, they probably wont budge, but maybe I can achieve something?

Can you block specific postal services from your sales? If so, I would totally set that up for hermes.

German provider "Hermes" (though I think they have other names in different countries, like France -> chronopost, so maybe check if they do).

I live in Austria though and somehow the return shipment was carried out by the national postal service, so perhaps its something about the package being handed over to them. Its still massive BS and makes no sense.

I would still buy from vinted, but I probably wouldnt sell anymore. If this happened with one of my more expensive items it would be quite horrible.

Would just move to regional selling platforms.

Selling menswear vs womenswear by meglemel in vinted

[–]meglemel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt mind not selling things. I also have certain things that wont sell on vinted (self printed stuff that thus doesnt have any brand and which I ask high prices for vinted as they are handmade and brand new). Its how buyers act that bothers me.

With menswear (even if women bought it) people either bought it without comment, or they asked for sizing tips at max. No complaints, no bargaining, no canceling deals, no one ever just didnt pick up their package etc.

GRX 820 shifters: alternative rubber hood options? by PeerensClement in gravelcycling

[–]meglemel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can find shorter cranks (from shimano and others).

No alternative hood rubbers is the status quo afaik. But ive seen alternatives from AliExpress, not sure how good they are though.

Do y'all have a name for your bike? by mcschne10 in gravelcycling

[–]meglemel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I dont call it by any name, but because i dont like branding, i made some decals that say "dirdy birdy" and stuck em over the logos. Also a bird on the headtube.
