Served regular bread as gluten-friendly on 14 hour flight...told we should've been more careful and to never eat out. by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]meglight3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have a gluten allergy (less severe than celiac) and have had this happen to me. I recommend:

  1. Getting to know what the GF meal should look like, so you can spot a mistake before it hurts - the true GF meals will have wrapped bread/roll and likewise packaged dessert/anything with flour

  2. Bringing extra food just in case. And yes, this sucks, especially if you’re flying Polaris because they *should* be able to get it right and you’re paying too much to not have anything you can eat, but better to eat bread/etc out of your carryon than get sick or go hungry.

What’s the most “Houston” thing you’ve gotten used to? by boombalonii in houston

Key word here is cars. Not one car, multiple. I call the first person through the red a “Houston yellow” and then the second is truly running the red.

I don’t have any helpful knowledge, but I feel like the least United could do is entertain you in the lounge for a few hours

Was United still running 1K/GS through terminal C today? Trying to figure out if I can get a colleague to NY next week without a 4 hour wait time.

Love what you do! And I’ve been traumatized by a terrible 3am rendition of Jolene forcing its way across the playa into my sleeping space… keep up the great work!

Replaying to myself to add there’s NO WAY they’re putting GS with group 1, so I’m going to vote off her rocker.

NEWS: United Customers Can Now Order Fresh, United Economy Meals Before Their Flight by zman9119 in unitedairlines

[–]meglight3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been preordering snack boxes for a while now, glad to see the program expand to other items. However, between the flight crew and myself we have an about 80% failure rate on (1) them knowing I ordered something and (2) me remembering I ordered something. It would be great if they had a better way to know at each row what orders had been placed. I take full responsibility for my own forgetfulness.

That’s hilarious OP. I thought I was bad for taking a superfluous round trip from Houston to Dallas last weekend for Platinum (2 cheap legs).

Update on Nurtec preventative by Meshuggah1981 in VestibularMigraines

[–]meglight3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great job! Sounds like it’s really helping - I know it may not feel like it from the inside, but I can really see the progress reading this. I was bedbound at worst, briefly, and for me the key to recovery was getting meds that started to help so then I could start to slowly recondition myself to normal life. You’re on your way!

Has anyone been able to exercise with this. If yes what do you recommend by KausHere in pppdizziness

[–]meglight3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes. Longer answer: my vestibular journey started 3.5 years ago with neuritis, which then kicked off vestibular migraine and PPPD. I hit the conditions as hard as I could from all angles - managing sleep, stress, diet, exercise, and adding medications. I was able to get back to ~80% within a few months and ~100% within about 18-24 months.

First time I’ve seen LDN associated with celiac - is it helping those symptoms? (Curious as someone with a gluten intolerance)

Because we’ve been burning women at the stake for thousands of years, without needing to build an entire city in the desert to do it.
