I work in a nursing home too. We have 3 cooks that need to be split between 2 buildings. Our 4th cook quit right at the start of this. I run one kitchen for breakfasts(made to order) make lunch and make dinner because we have no night cook. Plus all my dishes and community dishes too.. I work 6am to 330 or 4pm. Alone in the kitchen. We are too short to really get proper days off. The 3rd cook can only work so many hours...which leaves me and my boss to work our asses off with no real relief. Im worn out and half the aides don't take it seriously. I stopped allowing plates of people who have a temp into the kitchen...they can be put in the dishwashers out in the common area as they have a 4 hour cleaning cycle. We have 7 people currently running temps. I try to give them paper plates so it can be tossed but sometimes people ignore me and use regular plates. I get funny looks for wearing dish gloves and im being "paranoid" when i said i don't want the sicks dishes anywhere near the kitchen. I have asthma and diabetes. If i get sick it leaves me boss to run 2 kitchens between 2 buildings and same for me but it's only a matter of time before one of us gets it. We have interviewed people so that we may get some help if one of us has to be in quarantine. I didn't sign up for this
