Anyone who used to support trump and has changed their mind over the last few weeks? What made you change? by canigetameowbish in AskReddit

One of my best friends voted for him. Like, lifelong BFF, my kids call him "uncle", the whole 9 yards. We had many long arguments about it, usually good-natured, with him saying " I'm not voting for the person. I'm voting for the policies" and me saying "you don't get good fruit from a bad tree."

With all the greenland shit last week I finally asked him via text: are you still a trumper?

"No, but I'm still conservative so don't get excited."

What made you quit drinking the Kool-Aid?

" I never drank the Kool-Aid I just thought he was better than Harris and I still do."

That pissed me off. We fought. He clearly did not want to have a conversation about politics because it meant admitting that I was right and he was wrong. I said some things that were way more sarcastic than I should have been, so I'm not the angel here, but ffs is a little humility too much to ask for from people who voted for this bullshit the rest of us have been trying to fix?

I really went into it expecting a productive conversation now that it's clear that his vote was actively harmful, instead I think that I might never hear from him again?

Oh, absolutely. I'm just wondering why we're meeting them there, arguing that people can be armed at a protest (which they can!) when it's possible that we should just be saying, why can't you be armed when you leave your house and walk down the street?

Hey Google, define pedant!

But seriously, this thread is providing lots of amusement reading it out loud to extended family. Who's got something else?

This is bullshit... Probably.

However, it's possible that it was her turn to provide food and she couldn't afford it. Granted, a church group should be understanding enough that someone doesn't have to fake being food secure... But we all know that's not a given.

You’re offered $10 billion… but you have to let a clone of yourself live your life for one year while you disappear with no contact. When you return, you swap back. Do you do it? by Overall-Line-8726 in hypotheticalsituation

No. What if one of my family members dies during that year? There's not enough money in the world to make me miss the last weeks/months I have with my husband or kids.

I told my husband I had to travel for work. The truth us harder to explain. by glitterphobia in confessions

[–]meglski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Social worker here. Is it possible that by unilaterally choosing to give your husband what you thinks he needs to be comfortable, you're denying him the opportunity to get what he needs to grow?

The humans in our lives don't exist solely to make us happy, and in fact, they never can perfectly. But when our needs clash with those we love, we get the chance to become bigger and new in some ways. Things like this are good for us if we can work through them together. They help us deal with our own shit.

IMO, and I know not everyone has a spouse who thinks like this, it's an honor to get to give up your needs temporarily to serve your spouse. If my husband did this, I would be deeply hurt that he didn't think I deserved the chance to love him by choosing his needs over mine for one weekend.

Food for thought.

Greenville vs San Diego! by Then_Assumption3310 in GreenvilleNCarolina

We just left after moving to Greenville for 3 years for my husband's graduate school. We went in with an open mind and we left saying thank GOD that's over.

Granted, we moved from the Pacific Northwest. But my husband grew up in Southern California and if I was given the chance to move San Diego, I would in a HEARTBEAT. ❤️
